Jay Michaels Leaving NEWSTALK 1010's The Rush for CHOM 97.7 in Montreal

Ryan Doyle was removed from NEWSTALK 1010's afternoon drive show The Rush in the fall of 2021, and now Jay Michaels has announced he's also leaving the show. In fact, this is Jay's final week.

Jay Michaels, who I still call Maddog, has visited me three times for three great episodes of Toronto Mike'd. His first visit was in 2014 when we chatted about his life in radio, why Billie was fired, Dean Blundell's trash talking and more.

Then, in 2016, Jay returned to discuss why he was fired from Virgin 999, what he thinks of radio today and his recent spot duty at Newstalk 1010.

That spot duty in 2016 resulted in Jay and Ryan Doyle hosting The Rush on NEWSTALK 1010, a popular afternoon drive program. Both Jay and Ryan dropped by in 2018 to talk about The Rush, and to kick out the jams.

So what's next for Jay? It seems he chose to leave The Rush for a morning show gig in Montreal. He's taking Terry DiMonte's old spot on CHOM-FM 97.7.

Coincidentally, Ryan Doyle has started tweeting again for the first time in months. He's announced a new podcast.

And oh yeah, before I forget, remember that GNR 640 re-branding when 640 went by Global News Radio? That's over now. It's 640 Toronto. Welcome to the jungle.

Congrats to Jay Michaels on the new gig on the FM dial in Canada's second-largest city. We'll miss him here in Canada's largest city.
