Humble and Colleen Fired from Boom 97.3

radioThis all seems awfully familiar...

In July 2006, I noticed traffic to this site from folks searching 'humble howard fired'. That prompted me to write "Humble Howard, Are You Okay?".

It turns out, he was fired from Mix 99.9 that day, and I unfortunately broke the story. Humble and I became great friends after that, and we remain good friends to this day.

It's happening again. There are visits to this blog from people searching 'humble and colleen fired'. Here's one example:

The first thing I do when I see such an indicator is visit the radio's website. It's usually a dead giveaway. When a radio personality is turfed, they try to erase him or her (in this case both) from the official radio site. I shot over to to hopefully find Humble and Colleen's smiling faces. Sadly, they were noticeably absent from the hosts page.

It's unconfirmed at this point, but once again, we have a lot of smoke here for there to be no fire. Humble, Colleen, are you guys okay? I've confirmed it. Astral has fired Humble and Colleen. Here's hoping they land on their feet.

No way! I started my mornings with them! I was wondering why Colleen wasn't on this morning.

May 4, 2011 @ 1:03 AM

Prove to me why I should give a shit about shitty radio like this when CKLN's been destroyed for more of the same?

At least Humble & Fred can find work here or in the States; what will the people who needed a voice not talking non-stop unfunny bullshit do?

Here's a little update on what I've learned...

This morning, Humble hosted the show without Colleen.

An internal meeting as to what's going on is scheduled for later today at Astral.

You can get at the Breakfast Show page via Google, but the blog has been deleted and the bio videos are offline.

May 4, 2011 @ 1:23 AM

Just heard Stu Jeffries hosting the morning show. Ironically, Stu was fired when Humble Howard was hired to join Colleen Rusholme at EZRock.

May 4, 2011 @ 7:37 AM

My heart sank when I didn't hear Howard's voice this morning; this is the third time since I fell in like with him on CFNY. Why are you taking Humble and Colleen away from us? Very disappointed in 97.3

May 4, 2011 @ 7:39 AM

Don't be disappointed with 97.3, be disappointed with their owners- Astral Media.

I've said it before- Astral has no idea what they're doing and couldn't give a crap about good radio. They're looking for cheap syndication radio (a la Mix 99.9).

Obviously we're not going to get objective reporting here, but there must be more to this than the usual, because Boom has been a ratings success

May 4, 2011 @ 7:58 AM

When I'm not listening to AM radio in the morning, Humble and Coleen on 97.3 is my show of choice. This is bad news.

There's only one Howard and he's on satellite.

May 4, 2011 @ 8:36 AM

Please find out what happened, Mike. I loved their show and will be outraged if in fact they were let go.

May 4, 2011 @ 8:37 AM

While the station has been a success, the morning show has underperformed ratings is a tough business for sure.

May 4, 2011 @ 8:40 AM

I am glad I never got into the radio industry. I was going to...went to school for it..but I am glad I didn't do it.

I feel bad for Humble and Colleen.

May 4, 2011 @ 8:48 AM

I hope this is not true. I have become a huge fan of both Humble and Colleen in the morning. The music not so much but they are great radio personalities who help set my mood in the morning. Keep us updated Mike.

May 4, 2011 @ 9:19 AM

shane alexander

what a shock. i thought they were doing well. did not have a clue this would be happening. this soon. wonder if there's any connection to the axing of the z103 morning team last week? huh..

May 4, 2011 @ 9:23 AM

Completely shocked. They were, in my opinion, the best morning radio show I had heard in a long time. The natural (not forced) sense of humour and the chemistry between the two of them made them a great team. I don't see the reason for/understand this decision at all.

May 4, 2011 @ 9:57 AM

Humble and Colleen are on in every bloody store in this town in the mornings. From Tim Hortons to the Variety Store... so I don't get it. People were listening.

May 4, 2011 @ 9:57 AM

The answer in the radio industry will be "so effing what". Who cares?

Why? Because the vast majority of people that whine and complain will CONTINUE to tune in. So what's that say to radio management?

The best example is Toronto Mike himself. For years he's continuously complained how Edge 102 isn't what it used to be. YET, guess who keeps listening. In the world of PPM and to radio management it doesn't matter if the listener likes the station, just that he shows up as a listener.

It's much like how people continue to support the Leafs while they suck. What NONE of you get is that the consumer DOES have the power to change by their spending & listening habits.

Years ago CHFI canned Erin Davis while she was on holidays. Up until that time CHFI was a top rated Toronto station. The next book came out and 98.1 CRASHED to the middle of the pack. Some time later the management of CHFI came forward and admitted their mistake and hired back Erin Davis. The audience taught CHFI a very valuable lesson.

Radio reminds me of the Tim Hortons in my office tower. In the mornings the line up is very long. One could accurately say "wow, I bet they make a lot of money". And that's probably accurate

But I look at that line and I think "how much business are they losing because the line is too long?" How many MORE sales could they have if they just expanded or hired more staff?

I would love to get a PPM meter. I'd carry it and then send it back and the BBM dudes would extract the data only to find NOTHING. If you dislike what's going on in radio, stop listening. And one day (like that Tim Horton's in my office tower) they will wake up and realize it's not how many people are listening. It's how many people that aren't.

May 4, 2011 @ 11:41 AM

i heard a rumour last night they will be replaced by a 2 hour all-poetry show because poetry is such a global and popular form of thing

May 4, 2011 @ 12:13 PM

Bring back Jessie and gene.!!

May 4, 2011 @ 12:31 PM

I read about them getting fired Tuesday night at, which is likely what prompted the Google searches you referred to.

Saw this on Boom's Facebook page posted about an hour ago

'boom 97.3'- '...we've made a change to boom's morning show to bring you more music to start your day, which means that Humble and Colleen are no longer with us. They are great people and we wish them the best!

OMG!! Okay, radio is truly dead now. For them to fire Humble Howard from another job?!!?? Yup, there's absolutely nothin' on the radio anymore besides autotune crap and sampled/copied songs being regurgitated all over again. No wonder I don't listen to commercial radio anymore!!

This is beyond disappointing, what a great morning show they just dropped a bomb on... Just, wow. Good job Boom 97.3 -- well done.

May 4, 2011 @ 9:11 PM

This is too bad. H&C had good chemistry together and I listened to them out of all the other morning shows the most. Found it funny this morning when the Boom Biz wasn't on as it's usually on even when Colleen is off. I'll just have to wait and see where Humble ends up and head on over to that station. Tomorrow is Sick Kids day too I think.

Had a nice chat with Humble this evening.

He has a much better philosophy now that it's his second rodeo. And, he's got lots of other stuff going on, including his work at Redfish Entertainment, hosting and directing.

He's okay. It sucks, and he doesn't know why they made this move, but he knows radio is like that. He gets it.

May 4, 2011 @ 9:33 PM

@andrew - Freddie P posted late this afternoon but Mike had the first post last night...

May 4, 2011 @ 10:28 PM

All that...AND he's an amazing kisser ;)

May 4, 2011 @ 10:30 PM

I will not be listening to BOOM any more. The only thing I listened to on that station was Humble and Colleen. I hope that wherever they go, they will be together because their chemistry is great. Really sad about this - throws off my whole day. :(

May 5, 2011 @ 7:28 AM

Freddie P.

I agree.

May 5, 2011 @ 7:50 AM

Well, that's it. I just deleted my connection to Boom. I listened to Humble and Colleen in the morning and now they're gone. Hope to find them somewhere onthe dial.

May 5, 2011 @ 8:01 AM

So sad. I would be driving to work laughing out loud to their show. I'm sure people were looking over at me and giving me "the look." I'll have to check in with Derringer now.

May 5, 2011 @ 8:32 AM

No truth whatsoever.

May 5, 2011 @ 9:34 AM

I heard Stu Jeffries on this morning - let's hope he's taking over b/c I do love him. Too bad they didn't leave Colleen to work with him though. Stu & Colleen were the best when they worked together a few years ago at EZRock and at the country station b4 that.

May 5, 2011 @ 9:52 AM

Time to update my pre-sets in the car and house radios...

Boom just went bust...

May 5, 2011 @ 10:36 AM

Definitely disappointed. I actually really really liked them.

Changing my radio station now from boom.

Mike - Tell Howard I supported the station cuz he was hilarious. He's gone, so now I won't!

May 5, 2011 @ 1:50 PM

I'm with Maureen: I don't know why on earth they wouldn't leave Colleen and reunite her with Stu, but nevertheless, is Stu Jeffries back for good?? Does anyone know?? That would be too good to be true!

If that's the case, I will be going permanently *back* to Boom (which I "left" 3 years ago). Won't be missing the ironically named "Humble" at all!

If anyone knows if Stu is back, please POST!!!

May 5, 2011 @ 3:00 PM

Only listened to boom because of Humble & Colleen. I guess i will make my stay permanent at Vinyl 95.3

May 5, 2011 @ 4:18 PM

I'm getting used to this - first 102.1. then 99.9 and now I've lost him again. I feel like that stupid girlfriend that keeps going back to the same damaging relationship. Stop the merry-go-round people! I can't live without waking up to Howard. Just when the sun came back up, it went down again. I'm switching my pre-sets out of spite. Humble, you will be missed more than you know.

May 5, 2011 @ 6:02 PM

boob 97.3

I do not usually get to upset when someone leaves radio but this time it hit a nerve I enjoyed the show and will miss them until they resurface at which time I will hit the dial point it at them and start again

May 5, 2011 @ 7:04 PM

What a surprise. Would have liked to see Colleen stay with Stu. I always enjoyed those 2 together.

May 5, 2011 @ 8:22 PM

Totally agree, Jason! I love Stu & Colleen together and have really missed them. Stu was on again this morning so let's hope he's staying - please!

May 6, 2011 @ 9:49 AM

It is about time - that morning show had turned into a crude childish and completely unfunny train wreck. I would not have believed it but by reading this blog, apparently there are people out there other than Howard that actually think thathe is funny. I pity Colleen foir having to fake laugh as long as she did.

May 6, 2011 @ 1:28 PM

I first found this station one evening on the train and was so excited that I missed my stop. Then the next day in the a.m. I found Humble and Coleen. wow! bad I have to go back to listening to 96.3..classical thanks new guy!

May 6, 2011 @ 8:06 PM

I was so happy when Humble was on again - and he and Colleen were so funny
Why would they fire them!?

May 6, 2011 @ 11:08 PM

I'm totally shocked.... The breakfast Skye with Humble & Colleen was hilarious... Astral Media can only remedy the situation by putting them on 99.9 in the mornings. Virgin's breakfast show could use a boost!

May 7, 2011 @ 6:23 AM

Humble and Colleen were the only reason I listened so loyally to 97.3. Guess it's back to station surfing...

May 9, 2011 @ 6:58 AM

Man, I had a sinking feeling last week when I didn't hear the morning duo on my commute. Being on the road when the sun comes up is made better with Colleen and Humble. I laugh out loud on a daily basis, which is always a good way to start the day.
You'll both be massively missed, and BOOM will be gone from my preset 1 by day's end. Astral needs to get its head out of its ass...

May 9, 2011 @ 7:43 AM

Took me a while to track Humble after losing him on CFNY.
Humble and Colleen, you are greatly missed! Thank God for the internet to keep us informed of your whereabouts. Switching off 97.3!!!

May 9, 2011 @ 8:42 AM

Sucks, they will be missed, they brought lots of laughs in the morning. Bring them back!!!

May 9, 2011 @ 9:00 AM

Marie Villani

I was wondering last week if I had missed that they were going on holidays and when nothing was said and their names weren't even mentioned, I went looking on the internet. I really enjoyed listening to them and will miss the laughter. I guess I'll be looking for another station too!

May 9, 2011 @ 9:24 AM

Like a lot of people, I thought they went on vacation. When I didn't hear their show on the radio this morning, I decided to check online, and came across this site. *sigh* It really speaks volumes to the integrity (or lack thereof) of a company to completely erase all mention of DJs when they get unceremoniously turfed. And Humble and Colleen was the best thing that happened to morning radio when they came on.

Apparently Astral is erasing comments on the Facebook page too. Humble, Colleen - if you read this, here's hoping we get to hear your voices on the radio again soon. You're sorely missed. As for me, time to go back to the old CD player in the mornings.

May 9, 2011 @ 9:52 AM

Back to bouncing between Chum FM and Q107 in the mornings - Very disappointed Boom!

May 9, 2011 @ 9:59 AM

I can't believe you got rid of these great people. The morning is not the same without them. I will not be listening to your radio station any more. CHUM FM at least is loyal to their employees.

May 9, 2011 @ 10:16 AM

This site is not affiliated with any radio station. Mike just has friends in various places.

If you'd like to comment to Boom 97.3, go to

May 9, 2011 @ 12:38 PM

Yes, its sad to see them go. I was a huge fan of Humble, but I will still support the radio station because it wasn't Boom that let them down but they're owners. Which someone on here stated, clearly, and yet almost everyone posting here ignored. Its kind of annoying reading post after post that says the same old thing, even though it's absolutely correct. Re-read the info people. And good luck to Humble and Colleen. You're both very talented individuals and I'm confident that we'll be hearing you elsewhere.

May 9, 2011 @ 2:27 PM

For anyone interested, Boom is owned by Astral Media:

Stu Jeffries is the new morning guy at Boom. Here's his recent tweet:

As of today, I'm the new morning host on boom 973. I've missed you all and hope you'll listen in between 5 and 9 am. Time to play. Again. :)

May 9, 2011 @ 9:15 PM

A$$-tral media

What a shame. Howard woke me up each morning and made me laugh on my way into work.
I hope we get a chance to listen to them again.

May 10, 2011 @ 6:29 AM

I agree with Mellow in that Astral is responsible for letting Humble & Colleen go from the morning show BUT if listeners do stop listening in the morning their ratings will drop considerably in the next book. Considering the competition amongst and weight put on the morning shows during ratings this action would definitely make a statement. Longtime Humble listener and loved Humble & Colleen in the morning. Numbers speak volumes and I've stopped listening.

May 10, 2011 @ 9:14 AM

What a huge disappointment.
I can't go back to 98.1 because it is so lame. I guess I'll surf the dial because I am erasing 97.3.

May 10, 2011 @ 9:23 AM

Welcome back, Stu! We missed you - looking forward to waking up with you again. All is almost perfect in radio land - just need Colleen back with you!

May 10, 2011 @ 9:31 AM

I spent my morning drive with Humble and Colleen, and didn't mind that sometimes there wasn't that much music, because they were entertaining. Stu Jefferies - I'm sorry - is boring. I've stopped listening.

May 10, 2011 @ 11:29 AM

I'm so pissed. They have just lost me as a listener. This Stu guy has absolutely no personality and nothing fun or funny about him. I've given him a few days but I normally like to wake to light-heartedness. Anyone know where I can find Howard and/or colleen??

May 10, 2011 @ 12:55 PM

What a huge mistake! Boom has lost me as well! I hope they resurface somewhere else.

May 10, 2011 @ 5:02 PM

Mel Preston

So disappointed with this. Mike - did they give Humble any rationale for the firing? Ratings were OK from what I had heard - not outstanding but OK when you consider the heavy competition. They really brightened my morning drive and I thought the interaction between Humble and Colleen was funny and natural. I'm not enjoying Stu I'm afraid. I've stopped listening to Boom in the mornings. Just my small little protest. Good luck Humble - I hope we hear you again in the mornings - but fear you've had enough of this sh!t and will move on and hopefully up. All the best!

May 10, 2011 @ 5:35 PM

Stu seems like a nice guy but is about as interesting as listening to Muzak in an elevator. This station has just lost a listener, Humble & Colleen used to make my morning. Too bad management doesn't seem to care what people like.

May 10, 2011 @ 6:34 PM

This time, I'm not going to sit back & do nothing... I'm TIRED of seeing the best of Toronto's morning hosts & DJ get fired for no reason.

I've started a Facebook group called Bring Back Humble & Colleen to spread the contact information for Boom 97.3 & their corporate masters, Astral Media, around to the fans who are upset by this decision.

I wish I'd started a group like this back when CFNY, oops, sorry "The Edge" fired Martin Streek - maybe that tragedy could have been averted if we had all stood up and made our voices heard.

Well, enough, I've emailed to let the responsible parties know that I've had enough... won't you join me?

May 11, 2011 @ 6:46 AM

Can't believe they are gone. I agree with most posts here. I will delete my preset and move on to looking for Howard again. Can't start the day right without him.

May 11, 2011 @ 7:45 AM

makes no sense, it was the BEST morning show, I will miss
u Colleen and Humble. Back to Q107. Hope the both of you get together, my mornings are ruined!!!

May 11, 2011 @ 7:56 AM

I'm going to miss Poppa Rusholme! Humble and Colleen were great.

May 11, 2011 @ 9:46 AM

I only ever tolerated Stu with Colleen...when he'd guest host for Humble & Colleen, I'd tune in somewhere else for the duration. I'm so sad that morning radio in the GTA has gotten a lot worse again. It's not the music Boom plays, it was Humble and Colleen who made my mornings and Boom's lost it's preset spot on my car radio. Sad. I'll have my eyes/ears open for where one or both of them may show up next.

May 11, 2011 @ 10:35 AM

The morning show with Humble and Colleen is the only radio show that I listen to. And, it is the only thing I turned my car stereo to FM. Otherwise, I'm all hook up with my mp3 and cd. Astral Media maybe cutting off a bit on their payroll while sacrificing for worthwhile show. It just dissapointed us.

May 11, 2011 @ 4:56 PM

Why? Just $$?
Hope HH and/or CR are back soon!!
Can't wait!!

May 11, 2011 @ 9:28 PM

what a month

I have been listening to Humble since the days of CFNY.
For the longest time, I have been switching back and forth from Z103.5 and 97.3 daily, enjoying them both. With the Loss of Scott Fox and team at Z103.5, I flipped back to 97.3 to find that Humble and Colleen were also gone. WTF????

May 12, 2011 @ 7:29 AM

Alex Meryn

People come and people go - it's their jobs. I get it.
What I have a problem with is these companies who want us to make a personal connection with their on air people, and then they can them without a word to their listeners/customers/supporters. As if we won't notice them missing. This has happened with Humble a few times, and Rick Hodge at CHUM comes to mind.
It's disrespectful and insulting.

May 12, 2011 @ 8:47 AM

Just to clarify, this is Humble's 2nd time getting the boot. First by Mix 99.9 when it was owned by Standard and now by Boom when it's owned by Astral.

Rick Hodge wasn't fired from Chum. He quit for a gig at Astral and was fired by Astral.

Virgin Radio just got a new listener. I have deleted 97.3 from my radio.....too bad because I really liked Humble and Collen.

i've changed station from 104.5 , 98.1 to 97.3 boom - i thought they were so funny, i've listened to them on my way to work..and coming home from work. finally there's station for our age with the humour of humble and colleen..
i was so disappointed to learned that they were i'm tuning back to 104.5 & 98.1

May 12, 2011 @ 3:14 PM

I listened to Humble throughout his career and was ecstatic to finally hear him again at Boom. He was audio comfort food. It just doesn't make sense to fire Humble and Colleen. Morning radio was hilarious again. Bad move Astral.

I was so glad to finally get a replacement for the 102.1 Humble and Fred show. Never thought that show could be beat, but Coleen definitely filled that gap. I do have satellite radio for good music, but never listen to it while I am "on the run" (almost constantly). Don't know what happened, and can't blame Stu, but if Astral thinks I'm interested only in their music, they're so wrong!! Morning radio "was" the only savior for regular radio.

May 12, 2011 @ 10:11 PM

I became a BOOM listener that moment Humble and Collee went on air in Dec 2009. My number 1 preset became 97.3 from 104.5 and it remained that way. Until now. I guess it goes back to 104.5 . So count my post to the growing discontent over Boom, or to Astral Media. They just lost a loyal listener.

May 14, 2011 @ 10:57 AM

It's about time they got rid of Howard. He is so egotistical and embarrassingly UNFUNNY. He's just awful. Too bad about Colleen though! I used to listen to Stu & Colleen all the time then totally switched when I heard Howard.

May 14, 2011 @ 7:47 PM

I liked howard as he has hang ups and always hitting on colleen. Guess we can finally hear the music in the mornings not his voice. Good job Boom. I for one like the change.

May 14, 2011 @ 7:52 PM

No one can be funny all the time (and there are always going to be people who will never like certain types of other people), but this pairing was good for a very long time. I worried when they started drifting into much more adult material lately. It made sense from the point of view of what satellite and HBO have been bringing to the airwaves, but I suspected that the ultra conservative Astral would can them soon, and they did. Too bad as Stu is milquetoast, while Humble was always one blurt away from being censored and Colleen was an excellent foil for him, in a different way than Fred used to be. I'll follow Humble wherever he goes, but that's just me.

May 16, 2011 @ 8:32 AM

I can't believe they got fired!! i am so disappointed at the radio station. What happened to the term "if it ain't broke don't fix it"!!?? i thought the Humble and Colleen show was fantastic!! made my drive in to work not so monotonous!! What ever shall i do now?!!!

May 16, 2011 @ 8:53 AM

Humble and Colleen was the FUNNIEST morning show. I won't be sticking around for Snooze Jeffries. Guess it's back to 98.1. Too bad :(

May 16, 2011 @ 9:36 AM

I listened to Humble when he was on CFNY and HAD to switch because Dean Blundell is an awful excuse for a human. I found Humble again on 97.3 and loved to start my mornings...i have switched all my radios and am trying to find something...I found virgin with Mad Dog & Billie BORING! I'll just plug in the ipod.

May 16, 2011 @ 11:19 AM

Humble and Colleen were the reason why I listened to your station it was cool and always challenging and so Toronto!

May 16, 2011 @ 1:41 PM

Very upset to discover that Humble and Colleen were. fired. I have always enjoyed Humble since his days with Fred Patterson on CFNY. Was thrilled to hear him on air again. Humble and Colleen always made me laugh and set the tone of my day. Stu is like listening to grass grow! Will probably switch to Vinyl 95.3 also joined the Facebook group. Totally disgusted.
Good Luck Humble and Colleen hope to hear u guys over the airwaves shortly!

May 16, 2011 @ 9:13 PM

Wow - The Humble Report and the dynamic between Humble and Colleen were the only things I liked about BOOM. No longer am I motivated to turn to 97.3. Big mistake.

May 17, 2011 @ 4:40 PM

I'm devastated!!! I, like many of you feel betrayed!!
Humber and Colleen are a great team. I refuse to listen to 97.3. Done.

May 18, 2011 @ 8:32 AM

Who cares. Radio has become noise. filled with commercials, over-hyped rhetoric and boring banter.
It makes no difference who you like, someone dislikes them and vice verse. I remember Howard when he first started and though him to be arrogant and really not as funny as people think he is. Then again, I have also given up on radio and listen to music commercial-free wherever I go. If it weren't for the cost, I would have sat. radio. Oh well, I do not miss radio, but they all suck for playing the same tunes over and over and over.

May 18, 2011 @ 9:27 AM

Bored in the morning

I switched from Q107 because I like H&C... I thought maybe they were on vacation, but now that I know they are gone for good, I'm switching back... 97.3 is being removed from my radio and replaced with 107.1 again. Hopefully H&C do well and come back somewhere else!

May 18, 2011 @ 1:04 PM

Johnny Mac

I can't believe they've fired these two. I loved the Humble report and would be sure to search it out every morning. I can't stand this bland crap morning guy they have now. Humble was a huge part of the nostalgic aspect of the show bringing back memories of Humble and Fred on the mighty CFNY of my there was a radio station! the best in North America in the early 80's. It's not the same thing in the morning no doubt. I wish him the best and as a few of you have said I'll not listen to the "wimper" anymore!

May 19, 2011 @ 12:35 PM

Shame, got use to them. use to listen to Mike and Erin, will have to go back to them. Thought Humble and Colleen were great. Sad.

May 19, 2011 @ 10:14 PM

Doris we go again! Stu is a little to mono tone for my liking, changed our station at home and find I am surfing between CHUM and Q107 on the drive in.

May 20, 2011 @ 11:47 AM

I too was shocked to find them gone!!! Hate to say it, BOOM, but that was a huge mistake; hopefully you realize it when your ratings drop even more!!! Heading back to Mike and Erin...

May 20, 2011 @ 4:00 PM

I'm happy for Stu, after being unceremoniously dumped before. Would like to have Colleen back with him, though. Howard was getting annoying.

May 20, 2011 @ 11:02 PM

Whatever happened to KJ's studio 97? Mike any news? Havent heard anything since Easter.

May 20, 2011 @ 11:30 PM

Matt, they've switched it from Saturday to Friday at 5:00.

May 22, 2011 @ 4:04 PM

Sean Caissie

this is such BS. The only reason why i started to listen to boom 973 was because of bumble and Colleen.
I can honestly say the moment i stopped hearing them in the morning is the same moment i stopped listening.

May 24, 2011 @ 6:29 AM

I hope to GOD they don't bring in Billy and Mad dog

May 24, 2011 @ 8:22 AM

Absolutely missing Colleen and Humble. For two weeks I kept telling myself they're on vacation, they're on vacation, sniff, sniff, only to realize they're actually NOT!! Humble will return, he always does. :) Colleen I miss you too, I really do!:,,(

In the meantime it'll be Vinyl, 95.3, for me. ;)

May 24, 2011 @ 10:54 AM

How disappointing. I also kept thinking they were on vacation when I didn't hear their usual morning hilarious banter on the drive in to work. This morning, 3 weeks later, and it was still Stu Jeffries' WAY-too-mellow-in-the-morning voice, I decided to search online for it.

May 24, 2011 @ 7:18 PM

This has all the symptoms of a political decision: The station seemed to be looking for trouble, created it where it didn't exist, diagnosed it incorrectly and applied the wrong remedies.

May 24, 2011 @ 8:37 PM

All morning radio blows. H&C didn't

May 25, 2011 @ 10:21 AM

It took me a long time to realize that Humble and Colleen were actually gone. Like others I kept on telling myself they were on vacation.

This really sucks Astral.

May 25, 2011 @ 7:52 PM

I listened 97.3 because of the great music, could never humble, great that he is gone, he's a loser and collen was so fake!!! This is great news

May 26, 2011 @ 6:55 AM

Sorry meant to say could never stand Humble, he is a loser!!! Was a loser with Fred and now a loser with Colleen , again Great JOB 97.3

May 26, 2011 @ 6:57 AM

I, like a lot of people just kept telling myself that they were on vacation ..... didn't want to face what I knew to be true I guess :(

Bad Move Astral .....Bad Bad Move!

Mike, if you hear anything about either Colleen or Howard, please post it for all to read

May 27, 2011 @ 12:20 PM

Astral Media has no clue what listeners want to hear, clearly Humble and Colleen had the listeners just from reading the posts here. Just another example of corp ignorance, down sizing, right sizing and capsizing. Bring them back and all will be fine but I guess I'll be waiting to find out where they end up and start listening to them there. bye bye 97.3 you suck now.

May 27, 2011 @ 12:56 PM

Hey Anonymous, too afraid to leave your real name behind such ignorance, what are you 10 yrs of age? Grow up! Wait til life throws you a shit ball, see how you like it. Oh thats right you were born!

May 27, 2011 @ 1:02 PM

Ok Marvin, no I am not afraid to leave my name. it's Sam and no I am not 10 yrs old!!! You losers all need to get a life!!!
You no what life has thrown me "shitballs", but I get support from people I know not total strangers. Do your even know Humble and Colleen? Let me guess the answer is NO! Do you think they would give a shit if you lost your job. Let me guess the answer is NO!
You know Astral Media knew exactly what they were doing, why don't you go do something that really matters and that would actually help people out. By the way MARVIN why don't you get out of your parents basement and get a job!!

May 28, 2011 @ 9:36 AM

Hi Sam. How are things at Astral media? Any chances of a promotion now that you're also kissing their ass online?
Hope you do realise that all these people that are disappointed with this lousy move actually have a life, get up early to go to work and used to listen to the Humble and Coleen show. Therefore their protest is not meant to support Humble and Coleen for losing their jobs but rather to complain for the elimination of the only morning show worth listening. Time will tell you and your pals at Astral media how disastrous your move has been.

May 28, 2011 @ 10:46 AM

I have now changed stations. I thought Boom was a great station with Humble & Colleen & the music was great Listened to them on the long drive to work and they kept me laughing. I hope I find then on another station together again. Goodbye Boom.

May 28, 2011 @ 4:21 PM

ha ... I too thought that colleen and howard were on vacation and I'd check each morning to see if they were back. Radio's b-o-r-i-n-g without them now. Same old. Where'd they go? I'd gladly follow them to another radio station.

May 29, 2011 @ 12:49 AM

Long Commuter

Well I am one of those scanners between 97.3, 104.5m 98.1, 91.1, 95.3, 107.1 Yes I have a wide range of music interest and I am also in marketing and need to know my stations. I have a very long commute in the morning and that is why I also need to scan as the annoyance level sometimes becomes unbearable and I need to move to the next.
I also like to hear Colleen and Humble but must admit Humble sounded like a whiner speaking through his nose which began getting to me and Colleen did sound a little fake. Neither of them have character recognition because Astral doesn't know how to keep people around long enough to help them build a character like Erin and Mike, the gang at 104.5 and 107.1. So shame on you Astral for doing it again and keeping your listeners completely in the dark. I had to find out myself on the internet to see what the heck was going on.
I do wish Colleen and Humble all the best oh and Papa Rusholm.

May 29, 2011 @ 5:45 PM

I like many others looked forward to turning on the radio weekday mornings for my very long commute and hearing the friendly voices of Humble Howard and Colleen. They made me smile when I felt sad and I am very disappointed in Astral Radio for firing these 2 great radio personalities. I know that Astral doesn't care, but you have lost another listener and I am have deleted Boom Radio from my radio channels. Best of luck to both Humble and Colleen. Wishing them great success in their futures.

May 30, 2011 @ 9:19 PM

It was about time....I was getting sick and tired listening to that lonely undersexed Humble hitting on Colleen every single day!. There was not a day that went by without hearing Humble doing this. It was annoying!

May 31, 2011 @ 4:56 AM

Everytime I find a station I like they go and do this. It was the only station I listend to. Screw it I'm sticking to my cd's. Maybe if a enough listeners did the same they migh get rid of the jerks that make these stupid decisions. To Humble and Colleen I just want to say thanks and will gladly follow you guys to any other station.

May 31, 2011 @ 4:37 PM

Haven't listened to 97.3 since Howard and Colleen aren't on anymore...they made my drive into work each morning...will not go back to boom...

May 31, 2011 @ 8:19 PM

Hey Mike from May 31st's an obvious question, why were you listening "every single day..."??...and for those who missed Stu Jeffries, how could you? He never left Boom! He was always on one shift or another! Humble and Colleen were like friends you'd hang out to listen to a few tunes with. Sure, sometimes they annoyed you, but overall they were generally funny and once and a while hilarious! Try lstening to Roger Whomever and Marilyn every day!! That'll learn ya!!!

June 1, 2011 @ 3:32 PM

Too bad about Colleen, not so sad about Howard. Was getting tired of ceaseless old man banter about his daughter and all the new tangled things kids were doing these days. Please. Welcome to 2011. I'll be going back to 102.1 while immature for sure at least it'll make me laugh. Still love the music on boom, glad I get to hear more of it now that the windbag is gone.

June 3, 2011 @ 8:24 AM

Has anyone heard if Colleen and Howard are on another station?

June 3, 2011 @ 3:59 PM

Toronto Mike Verified as the defacto Toronto Mike

They're definitely not on another station as of yet.

The moment they sign somewhere, I promise to write about it.

June 3, 2011 @ 4:06 PM

'Lil Boo

I hear you EX BOOM FAN. I couldn't listen to CHUM after Rick Hodge left cause I just couldn't take his replacement. I don't like listening to nails scraping down a blackboard so early in the day, it affects my digestion.
I'm sorry to see H&C gone. It seems that radio stations, as well as news stations, think way to little of the personalities they hire on. Anchors and VJ's seem to get hired and fired very quickly without any thought given to how the public will respond. I think this is a very short-sighted and, frankly, stupid approach.

June 4, 2011 @ 2:28 PM

When Humble left 99.9 I stopped listening to that station. 'Mad Dog and Billie'... gag! so low class. So then I started listening to 97.3 with Humble and Colleen. They made my morning commute. Now that they're gone, I have no reason to listen to the station. Stu Jeffries is bor-ing! I will listen to whatever station Humble (and colleen) move to.

June 7, 2011 @ 9:17 AM

I totally miss Humble and Colleen. They were hilarious, original and set an awesome tone for my day. Bring them back!! Please!! Urgently!!!

June 9, 2011 @ 4:49 PM

BuBye Boom

Oh Well.. back to CHFI or CHUM.. Stu isn't morning material.

June 10, 2011 @ 7:01 AM

I thought they were on holiday! Each morning I would tune in hoping they had returned and eager to hear Humble and Colleen's hilarious banter. I am so disappointed they've been fired. It's just wrong. I am not a morning person and they would really perk me up. Guess I'll have to find another radio station.

June 10, 2011 @ 11:00 PM

I am still very disappointed with my long drive in. I have listed to Humble since his CFNY days, looked for him, found him on Mix 99.9, that ended and found him again on Boom. Have not listened to BOOM since they were let go. Channel surfing looking for them once again. Not sure how these idiots hate Humble so much, yet know every station that he has ever worked for, LAY OFF!!!! Support is NOT a bad thing.

Humble and Colleen, hoping to meet up with you again real soon.

June 13, 2011 @ 11:35 AM

Don Valley

Rumour Mill has Humble and Fred reuniting....

June 13, 2011 @ 12:34 PM

Toronto Mike Verified as the defacto Toronto Mike

It's no secret Humble and Fred would love to reunite on air.

I can't speak any further on the subject. In fact, I've already said too much.

June 13, 2011 @ 3:38 PM

I am sure Howard is doing well this summer playing his favorite game (golf)at The National

Sure miss Howard and I have moved from BOOM and won't return.. They suck now "Stu" is just not there for me at all

June 15, 2011 @ 11:02 AM

Purple Hippo

I like Stu and I am glad he is back! I listened to him every morning on Y108, and occasionally on the country station and really enjoyed him and Colleen. I was so disappointed when he was no longer on the morning show and I have never been a Humble fan (sorry). I gave it a chance but the show just wasn't working for me. Now that Stu is back on in the morning I am tuning back in. I wish Colleen and Humble all the best, but I am really happy to hear Stu every morning again!

June 15, 2011 @ 7:40 PM

I find it funny how a select few people on here say how they were not funny or that Humble would hit on Coleen or that Coleen faked laughed at the stuff he did.

First of all if you listened to the show and thought this of them then why did you continue to listen ?? Second of all they had CHEMISTRY together. You would be lying if there wasn't someone you worked with who you have flirted with to create a relationship.

Get over yourself and dont be jealous just because people enjoyed hearing them on the radio. They were great and it is really sad they are now gone without any kind of explanation to Boom's listeners.

June 17, 2011 @ 11:07 AM

973 isn't the same. Stu is good but there isn't the fun on the station any more. I used to listen to 104.5 & went to 97.3 when it changed to Boom. I gues I'll have to search for another station

June 20, 2011 @ 3:48 PM

Lisa Williams

I didn't even know what the station was I'd just hit scan until I heard Howard's voice. Bring back Howard! Love him, miss him. Colleen wasn't my cup of tea, but I'd put up with her for Howard. Let us know when you land Howard - be fun to hear him do a guest spot on the Wolf on the way to Buckhorn this summer. Howard come back to us!!!!

June 21, 2011 @ 10:57 PM

Dodge Girl

Was so disappointed, every morning I listen also hoping they were on holidays. I feel ripped off - screw boom and I'm a boomer. When I hear Howard, that's my new station.

June 21, 2011 @ 11:00 PM

Boomer No More

Mike, please let us know if you hear anything else. Even though it was tough to stop listening to Humble in the morning, I turned off 97.3 when they switched to a new format...only so much 70's you want to listen to. I would love to hear Humble on the airwaves again!

July 7, 2011 @ 12:01 PM

Definatley hoping that they sign somewhere else. I'm sure Stu is a great guy, but I'm not a huge fan, so I don't even listen to Boom now because of it. They really made me crack up! Miss them!

July 12, 2011 @ 9:04 PM

Thanks for the info Mike...Humble if you read these, THANK YOU for all the laughs you've given us, and to Colleen, thank YOU too! You were both wonderful people to meet. I came to see you at Quinn's this past St. Paddy's Day and won a pair of U2 tickets...regardless of the tickets, you are ALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLclass!

July 28, 2011 @ 11:37 AM

Still missing them! I wish someone would get them both back on the radio; great team! I've not been listening to the station in the morning anymore; just not the same without them. I'm back to Roger, Darren & Marilyn at Chum FM

August 10, 2011 @ 8:31 PM

Com on, Chum FM! anything's better then that.

August 16, 2011 @ 10:23 AM

It looks like Colleen will be doing the morning show on 95.3 but without Howard. By the way that station just did the same thing to their morning hosts Bob and Corrie, here one morning gone the next.

August 17, 2011 @ 7:39 AM

Teena in Toronto

I heard this morning that Colleen has indeed landed on Vinyl 95.3. Yay!

August 19, 2011 @ 9:13 AM

Miss them in my morning workout. Please post when they resurface. I don't need to listen to the boom anymore.

August 24, 2011 @ 7:58 AM

Toronto Mike Verified as the defacto Toronto Mike

Colleen has already resurfaced.

She's on Vinyl 95.3.

Humble is working with Fred Patterson on a new Humble and Fred Show.

August 24, 2011 @ 9:13 AM

Paul, its not the same, thats the boom retro mix, its always been on. Im talking about studio 97 and the disco night. It's been gone since easter. And Colleen is on Vinyl 953, and it plays similar music to boom (competitor from chorus, i think)

September 14, 2011 @ 9:52 PM

I freakin' love Howard in the morning! He is absolutely hilarious. I can't wait for him to resurface.

September 16, 2011 @ 11:36 AM

I, too, thought Humble and Colleen were on vacation. I asked on Boom's FB page where they were but received no response. I loved Colleen but I thought Humble was funny but a bit lowbrow. However, I've been listening to Colleen on 95.3 the last few weeks and the chemistry she had with Humble is severely lacking. But it's nice to have her back. I like Stu on 97.3 but he'd be better with a female co-host. Neither station is working for me right now. Disappointed tbh.

September 23, 2011 @ 9:17 AM

Hope M.

I have been wondering what happened to Colleen for months now. The idea of a good radio station is not just the music on the other end, it's the chemistry it takes between two people like Humble and Colleen to work together, that make it happen. And I'm telling you, they had it, and I miss it. They were my get-up-and-go people in the morning. I miss Colleen's laugh now! As much as I love listening to the 70's,80's and 90's hits, you just may have lost another listener now that I know where I can find her!

September 30, 2011 @ 6:18 PM

Bella G

A little late to the party, but so happy Stu is back. I listened to him every morning when he was on with Colleen. I was so disappointed when he was turfed and replaced with Howard. I listened for a day and moved up the dial. And now he's back so I am back. Long live Stu.
