Kypreos, Shannon and MacLean Out At Sportsnet

On the heels of the big Bob McCown news are reports of further cost cutting moves by Rogers Sportsnet. A few longtime hockey analysts are no longer with the station.

After covering the greatest game in the world for the past 10 years I won’t be returning to Sportsnet . Thanks to all hockey fans for your great support . To my colleagues, especially @RealKyper thanks for the help and friendships. #pei#florida#golf#book— Doug Maclean (@DougMaclean) August 28, 2019
Another Rogers casualty. My old friend John Shannon.— steve simmons (@simmonssteve) August 28, 2019

Nick Kypreos, who had been at Sportsnet for 21 years, is gone, as is John Shannon and Doug MacLean. I've met Nick a couple of times via Humble and Fred as he segued into a broadcaster by appearing on their old 102.1 the Edge morning show. Here we are in the Leafs alumni lounge. I was there thanks to Humble's financial adviser at the time, Stew Gavin.

These cost cutting moves appear to be the result of the very expensive NHL deal explained in great detail by David Shoalts in this episode of Toronto Mike'd. Hear Hockey Fight in Canada below and consider subscribing to the podcast.
