Leafs vs. Habs Opening Montage on HNIC

Leafs vs. Habs Opening Montage on HNICThe Toronto Maple Leafs ~ Montreal Canadiens rivalry is almost 100 years in the making. That music you hear over this fantastic Hockey Night in Canada montage is Luciano Pavarotti singing Nessun Dorma.

Great piece of music. My complaint is that there's no Mats Sundin or Borje Salming - the two greatest Leafs of all time.

Seriously, who were better than those two? But of course we have 2 shots of Clark. I just don't understand the fascination with that guy.

I wonder if Rogers will do anything like this. Does CBC not own all the old footage?

Jebus, I almost cried.
That was great. I had to spend 10 minutes to explain to my son who all of those players were.

@ Gary. Nope NHL owns all the board casted footage of NHL games past and present. The TV networks that have paid the NHL money for the rights to broadcast their product are aloud to show any NHL footage past or present no matter what station had orgianely broadcasted the game.

This gave me the chills. Awesome and there is nothing better than Leafs vs. Habs. So well done.

Go Habs go!

Mike from Lowville

All time greats in both camps! Man those colour shots without helmets brings back memories. Does the colour look brighter back then or is it just me. Might be the lighting but it reminds me of the old western Tecnicolor movies.
