Another Open Mike..40 posts of constant bickering between the same 3 individuals.

October 11, 2013 @ 3:07 AM

Hey Bob loblaw

Get bent!

October 11, 2013 @ 6:46 AM

Leafs 4-0 over predators, Bernier shutout.

October 11, 2013 @ 8:05 AM

Mississauga Phil

Yeah...there's at least 5-6 of us who constantly bicker :)

October 11, 2013 @ 8:46 AM

I've recently re-discovered television. My adventures have taken me to Baltimore for The Wire, New Jersey for The Sopranos, NYC for Louie, Washington DC for Homeland, New Mexico for Breaking Bad, Ancient Rome for Spartacus and I'm currently visiting the eastern US for The Walking Dead. It's been a fun trip!

October 11, 2013 @ 8:55 AM

Would you rather we all simply agree on everything? OK, can we all agree the weather is wonderful? I love fall days where the sun is shining, there's hardly any breeze and its around 10c.

Is that better, Bob?

October 11, 2013 @ 8:57 AM

Please, take your time returning...

October 11, 2013 @ 8:58 AM

What, no Sons of Anarchy? One of the best shows on TV & the theme song is great.

It's 5C, foggy and dark here. I myself prefer days of heavy snow, especially in the Coq (Coke) when the lights on flashing to "chain up".

October 11, 2013 @ 9:25 AM

Mississauga Phil

@ Irv - Love SOA. That show is twisted!!

October 11, 2013 @ 9:45 AM

You seem more like a fan of Downton Abbey.

October 11, 2013 @ 9:58 AM

Leafs : promising year ahead thanks to #1 goalie Bernier
Weather : couldn't ask for better today
Ford : being followed by a police plane... I have to think that this will all come to a head soon
Blackberry : I have the Q10 and hate it. Some improvements with this device, but overall, very disappointed. The end is near !!

October 11, 2013 @ 10:12 AM

So the leafs won. My Habs won as well as my coyotes. three assists for PK Subban. Wonderful. Screw Blackberry. I don't have one though and don't want one. If I ever need a cellphone which I probably won't, I'll get one from primus. I'm sure I wouldn't be disappointed with it.

October 11, 2013 @ 11:04 AM

Toronto Mike Verified as the defacto Toronto Mike

1. I'm very pleased with the news from the Barilkosphere regarding my Leafs and Bernier.

2. The weather here (Amsterdam) today is cool and rainy... soon I'll be leaving for the sunny and warm climes of Italy.

3. I had an engagement last night at an old opera house called the Odeon and it has unisex bathrooms. It takes some getting used to... taking a leak at the urinal and looking up to see a woman walk out of the stall.

4. I remain very happy with my Android device. :)

October 11, 2013 @ 11:08 AM

I know this what you kids call a "first world problem" but the past few days at work we don't have filtered water available to us. My problem is that I just cant bring myself to going to a tap and trusting what comes out.

I realize we all did this for decades but its 2013 and I want my water to be in a bottle or at the every least filtered. I know, maybe I'm just paranoid.

October 11, 2013 @ 11:18 AM

Why do they have unisex bathrooms in Europe?
I don't get it.
What's the reason and how long has it been that way.
If ever there was a time for privacy male/female segregation this should be it.

October 11, 2013 @ 11:19 AM

What about the transgendered?

October 11, 2013 @ 11:30 AM

I have noticed a few restaurants in Toronto have unisex bathrooms too.

October 11, 2013 @ 11:33 AM

Mississauga Phil

I have to agree 100% with Argie...bathrooms are not something I want to be unisex. Lord knows we all are aware of what the fairer sex are doing in there...but it doesn't mean I want a front row seat....

October 11, 2013 @ 11:39 AM

Mississauga Phil

I guess I meant I agree with Speyside 100%

...although Argie does bring up a good point about filtered water....

What the hell, I agree with Argie 100% too!

Strange days indeed....

October 11, 2013 @ 11:41 AM

@SpeysidePhil @Argie

I guess when you're idea of going out is Kelsey's you don't see much of the world. There are places in Canada with unisex bathrooms. It's relatively common in gay bars too (boys ain't peaking at the ladies) In one well known Calgary bar, their are no urinals just a big long trough dudes piss in. I realize you're 175 years old Phil, but not everyone is a quaker like you are. There are lots of places where partial nudity is common in Europe. No one goes apeshit.

As for your water worries, tap water undergoes far more stringent filtering & regulations than bottled water does. Read the label, bottled water often has ingredients. And, most of the major bottled water companies are the ones that are supportive of Monsanto & their GMO'd food. You're always up everyones ass for "being brainwashed" well look at you Mr Brainwash.

SOA is a great show. Biker culture has always had this mystery about it that few civilians get. Stereotypes run amuck that every biker is stone cold killer, beat their wives, etc. On several occasions in Edmonton, I sat with a few full patch HA boys. Nice guys, good sense of humour & they treated those around them (includng the waitress at Hudsons) with class. They had some nice iron too. A MC called the "Iron Order" are some good guys too. They do all types of charity stuff for kids, cancer victims, etc. Even the 1% bikers do lots of good. When the Westboro Baptist Church was going to picket the funerals of the kids murdered at Sandy Hook everyone was outraged. But it was the Hells Angels & Patriot Riders who showed up and formed a human wall to protect the funeral procession (along with fireman & some cops). As the saying goes "When we do right, nobody remembers. When we do wrong, nobody forgets™". I must say tho, I just HATE the fairings
SOA have on their Harleys.

The best part of Thanksgiving are the hot turkey sandwiches the following week.

Yum Yum.

October 11, 2013 @ 12:13 PM

Came back last night from a roadtrip to Memphis. Drove through Michigan, Ohio, Kentucky and Tennessee on the amazing US interstate system. This obviously wasn't the first trip, but definitely the longest. I'm continually impressed by a few things: The speed limit most of the time is set at 70 mph, which makes a huge difference. People stay out of the left lane down there, except to pass. How refreshing. Over 3000 kms, and I think I can honestly count the number of slow downs on the fingers of one hand, and the longest one was less then 10 minutes. Constructions zones are indicated well in advance, road conditions are virtually always accessible by radio broadcasts, and rest ops and gas stations are always accessible. Those Pilot gas stations are amazing - groceries, coffee, clean washrooms - even showers.
So, after an amazing road trip, once back in Canada, guess what happens on the 401 just past Guelph? Traffic comes to a screeching halt. It's 10 pm, and no one is moving. No idea why. We proceed to crawl along at "idle speed" (i.e.: take you foot off brake and gas and just coast) until gradually traffic is diverted off of the left lane, crawl along again until everyone is finally diverted to the single right lane. Then we get to crawl along in the single lane for a while until we pass the full blown construction - totally repaving two of the three lanes. It took well over an hour to get past this, at a snails pace, traffic literally backed up for kilometres. This is Ontario's biggest highway! Why no advance warning of major construction? We would have gladly jumped on the 403 at Woodstock had we known, as I'm sure many would have. Why isn't this work scheduled to happen in the wee hours, say 1:00am to 4:00am, instead of 9:00pm? After a long day of driving, I can't tell you how frustrating that was.

October 11, 2013 @ 12:25 PM

If you travel long distances get a CB Radio and put it on Channel 19 (Channel 1 east of Ontario). You'll hear about road construction, accidents, cops & everything else long before you'll hear it on "traffic and weather together". It makes a great GPS too & mile markers become incredibly important. No monthly fees either.

October 11, 2013 @ 12:40 PM

@ Irv

Always with the insults!! And it's always about Irv.
And I don't go to gay bars like you obviously do.
And what the hell does age have to do with any of this?

October 11, 2013 @ 1:21 PM

"@ Irv

Always with the insults!! And it's always about Irv.
And I don't go to gay bars like you obviously do."

Complains about insults and then hurls a veiled insult.

And before Speyside tries to deflect, being gay is not an insult, however, your intent with that remark is.

October 11, 2013 @ 1:31 PM

@Mcnulty & Irv
"If the shoe fits".
And you must be really proud to be the only one I can remember defending Irv.
He really doesn't need your help.

October 11, 2013 @ 1:35 PM

Just returning the insults bud. You know the old "right wing" saying dude, if you don't like what I write, go watch porn.

Yep, I been to the odd gay bar, I've been to Pride (Toronto & Vancouver) & I've got gay friends, both female and male. Shit, I've even walked around the Castro in San Francisco. So what? Are you implying that if I've gone to a gay bar, I'm gay? Am I fucking Chinese because I had dim sum in Chinatown last Sunday? Or are you just not sure of your own manhood bro? Unlike yourself dude, people's choice in sexuality doesn't wig me out. Sorry to hear about your insecurity brother. I'm willing to bet you won't shower at the gym for fear of not um, "sizing" up to the other guys lol.

I could give a shit about taking a piss with a woman 3 feet away washing her hands. The only time I felt uncomfortable in a bathroom was in Asia where the toilet was a hole in the ground and to take a shit you squatted over & held on to two rails. No stall. Nothing.

October 11, 2013 @ 1:41 PM

How about this insult from Irv? "I guess when you're idea of going out is Kelsey's you don't see much of the world"

That's just typical Irv talk (I'm not only superior - you are a loser).

October 11, 2013 @ 1:42 PM

It doesn't surprise nor concern me that no one defends me on here. The base of the commentors on this blog = incestuous right wing circle jerk. Mind you, Argie less so than Speyside Phil. BTW, Phil, did you move up that way to escape the "riff raff" in the city or were you thinking of starting a grow op lol.

Dude, you like in a bland, white boy suburb. They don't have a Lee's Palace or anything up that way. And seeing you have a job in an industry that pays well, well you must live there by choice. So I really doubt you're making the trip down to the city to hit up the Bovine Sex Club (assuming it's still open). Or Oasis.

October 11, 2013 @ 2:05 PM

I can't believe people are jumping all over Joe Thorton. For anyone who may have missed it after Hertl's 4 goal night Thorton said he'd have his dick out if he scored 4 goals.

The people complaining about it really need to get off of their high horse.

Awesome weather all week, it'll be nice to wash the car tomorrow.

October 11, 2013 @ 2:12 PM

"dim sum, Asia, gay bar, Castro"

OK, whatever but I must correct you on something you keep getting wrong. When one says "I could give a shit" or "I could care less" that actually implies you do in fact care - and that there's room to care less. Ya know what I mean, slick?

October 11, 2013 @ 2:33 PM

Muffin(argie). I do care. When i come to ont lets me, u and Mike go for beers. Im buying.

October 11, 2013 @ 2:50 PM

@ Phil and Argie

I like how you comment on me defending Irv but don't respond to Phil's complete hypocrisy.

I wasn't even defedning Irv. He doesn't need it. I was only pointing out how Speyside is a huge hypocrite.

October 11, 2013 @ 2:57 PM

Just where is this huge hypocrisy?
My views on gays are well documented on this sight. I don't have a problem with gays.
Irv's comments are laced with insults an innuendo's so it becomes fair game to hurl back.
So where's the hypocrisy McNulty?

October 11, 2013 @ 3:16 PM

Mississauga Phil

Could you let me know where and when those beers are to be a fly on the wall for that moment lol

October 11, 2013 @ 3:50 PM

@Mike, in honour of your trip to Holland, I bought some gouda. Evidently its an aged smoked variety and it was delicious!! Okay.. let's call a spade a spade... I was weak in the grocery store at 2:30pm..

@Liz - I PROMISE to email this weekend!!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone. Think about the things you're happy for and take advantage of.. we are all thankful for something and someone.

October 11, 2013 @ 4:18 PM

You're welcome to drink up too man. If I was closer I would have attended some of those H&F functions, even if it resulted in a full out lynching lol. Personally, I think Argie, Phil & TM need a "get shitfaced session" with me. If you come along Phil, let me knwo, I'll bring you some BC bud. You can smoke these straight laced fuckers up so they can chill out. Once Mike is drunk we'll get "Toronto Mike" tattoo'd on his gut like bike gangs get their colours done.

PS. Corey you're invited too lol.

October 11, 2013 @ 6:32 PM

@ Speyside

"If the shoe fits"

What did that mean? You're a typical antagonist. Throw a shot at someone and act like you didn't. It's what Dave Williams did and it's what's typical of people like you. You're the type of person who would punch someone and wonder why they hit back.

October 11, 2013 @ 7:38 PM

I could throw a pile of shots at you but I won't.
But I ask you to read the posts, starting with mine when I asked a simple question about bathrooms in Europe. That was followed by insults and innuendos by Irv, to which I replied in kind.
Argie, Gary and miss. Phil gave an intelligent answer.
Irv not so much.
So how you take from that, that you refer to me as like Dave Williams is beyond me.
Again I ask the question, so who do you really think is the antagonist.

October 11, 2013 @ 10:21 PM

Yeah Phil because this blog is the sum total of THIS thread alone, right? Because you've never been a belligerent dick in any other thread. But you really think if I care if all of TM thinks I'm the antagonist? I mean really? If one of the politicians you admire raped a 10 year old you'd fucking blame her for wearing a halter top.

PS Dave Williams is an idiot. I'm trying to find Dave so if anyone can help me, I'd make it worth their while. Posts, name, email, etc.

October 11, 2013 @ 10:59 PM

Well, how about those coyotes. That was a great game last night beating the Flyers. the Flyers suck this year, but who cares. I don't like the flyers at all. My Habs play tonight, but late. The game is in Vancouver so it doesn't start until 10:00 p.m. No 7:00 Habs game on Saturday night. Well, Leafs play at 7:00, but booh. I'll cheer for Edmonton to beat the Leafs. Cardinals are in San Francisco tomorrow for some football. Hopefully another win for my Cardinals. Make it happen.

I actually don't want the disc, I want the digital file. I heard the movie was filmed in Toronto and I'd like to check it out, but I don't want a tangible medium. Can you send me the MKV file please?

And the typo was due to Heineken consumption. The next contest entry will be from Rome Mike.

October 12, 2013 @ 2:09 PM

"I could throw a pile of shots at you but I won't."

I'd call that antagonistic. So throw away.

And it all comes to my original point. You called out Irv for hurling insults and insulted him in return. You're a hypocrite.

And now you're either trying to threaten me with a barrage of insults or your threat is empty. Either way, what was the purpose of that?

October 12, 2013 @ 11:26 PM

Well, how about those Habs. They won. That's great, but unfortunately the Leafs won as well. They shouldn't have, but they did. Well, coyotes and Cardinals will win today. that will be good.

October 13, 2013 @ 7:41 AM

Peace my friend , Happy Thanksgiving.

October 13, 2013 @ 8:19 AM

Jason from Sudbury

Anyone watch the Habs / Canucks game last night and see this?

October 13, 2013 @ 3:42 PM

See what? I'm blind and I don't watch the games but listen on my Internet radio broadcasts. My Habs won and then my Coyotes won today. My Cardinals couldn't beat San Francisco though. They lost Booh.

October 13, 2013 @ 8:24 PM

@Cheryl: while Montreal was changing lines, a drifting puck slowly bounced off both of Luongo's skates and into the net.
