When the Nicest Words You've Heard All Day Come From Comment Spam...

spamThis blog just received the nicest comment. It really made my day. Here it is...

I don't know If I said it already but ...Great site...keep up the good work. :) I read a lot of blogs on a daily basis and for the most part, people lack substance but, I just wanted to make a quick comment to say I'm glad I found your blog. Thanks, :)

A definite great read..Tony Brown

Sadly, this is an example of comment spam. Tony Brown's name linked to some XBox 360 forum. The new trend in comment spam are these "kiss ass" comments on random entries, and I get (and delete) several each week.

When the nicest words you've heard all day come from comment spam, it's never a good sign.

At least you get comments... I'd be HAPPY with spam!

Yeah, sometimes I get those and it makes me feel so special until I realize that they're spam... :(

Hey um, T.O.Mike, (as far as I can recall) you've never left a comment at my blogsite.

Uh oh. I smell a fight coming on!

Maybe we don't show Mike the appreciation of his blog. I comment all the time and never say that I like the blog or it is one of a very few on my almost daily reading list (weekends and days off are hit or miss).

So Mike, I love your Blog. It is interesting and fun to read.

So Yay Mike!

We love ya, Mike!

And at least you get nice spam. Most of the stuff that makes it through my filters is pretty damn creepy.

Oliver (a/k/a Dizzy)

Nobody comments on my blog, either. I'm feeling kinda unloved, but then again, I post infrequently-ish. :)

Mike - This sounds a little like a call out for some stroking - Hidden within a post on new spamming comments. Not sure.

It's a thankless effort and I'm sure nobody promised you anything when you started this thing. Did they?

Regardless - From all the discussion you create, you know people get a lot out of your ideas, posts, evaluations, lists and comments - even if some feel they have to be assholes through the process.

On a frequency basis, you are #1 on my (very short) list of blogs.

You keep me informed, intrigued and sometimes laughing.

Keep up the good work.

(Have I kissed enough ass yet?)

I swear I wasn't fishing for compliments, but I'll take them.

So should we be surly or start blowing sunshine up........

Toronto Mike

There's room for surly, as long as it's interesting surly.

The sunshine is fine too, so long as it's sincere sunshine.
