The Exclusion of Drive

I'm not a completist, but I own a handful of R.E.M. albums.  I've always liked the band and enjoyed their radio singles.  I was happy to add In Time - The Best of R.E.M. 1988-2003 to my collection, but it's always bothered me that it's missing one of my all-time favourite R.E.M. tunes.  For some reason, "Drive" didn't make the cut.

"Drive" was the first single from Automatic for the People, my favourite R.E.M. album.  It plodded along hauntingly with a moody tone and cool lyrics.  No, it wasn't the poppy "Shiny Happy People" or "Radio Song", it was better.

"Drive" should have made it on In Time - The Best of R.E.M. 1988-2003.
