The keeners have already voted in the 2026 Toronto municipal election. I plan to do that later today. Election Day is October 26, but advanced voting continues until tomorrow at 7pm.
Yesterday, CityNews reported that longtime city councillor Frances Nunziata was dropping out. CityNews had initially cited sources stating that the York South-Weston councillor would be dropping out on Friday. That didn't happen, and Nunziata says her "campaign remains unchanged".
It's worth noting how close Nunziata came to losing her seat four years ago. Chiara Padovani lost by 94 votes. Chiara Padovani is running again this year.
I used to live in the Borough of York, and Nunziata has been around since '85 when she was elected as a school board trustee. She became a City of York councillor in '88 and then served as the last Mayor of York from 1994-1997. Since then she's been a Toronto city councillor. That's 41 years.
I feel the winds of change blowin' through York South-Weston.
