I wrote about the 2025 edition of ABG Day here. Each year, just before school returns, Snow gives back to the community he grew up in by hosting Allenbury Gardens Day. It's always great fun.
This year, when my boy and I arrived for the big day, it was lower key. Apparently complaints were raised with bylaw officers and Snow was told he couldn't hold his annual event. There was a DJ playing music, but there were no bouncy castles, no BBQ, no ice cream trucks.
Then, like a phoenix rising from the ashes, I witnessed a civil conversation between Snow and a Toronto bylaw officer. An agreement was reached, and suddenly the bouncy castles were being put in place, the BBQ grill and meat was summoned, and dozens of amazing giveaways, including bikes and skateboard and backpacks, were presented to give away to children in this community. It was a party.
My boy had a blast, met new friends, and left with a full belly and fantastic memories. Kudos to Snow and his wife Tara for making this magic happen. And jeers to whover tried to stop this beautiful thing from taking place. All I saw were happy kids enjoying free ice cream, free burgers and hot dogs, and for some, free bikes, skateboards, backpacks, and more.
