We've discussed it often on Toronto Mike'd, and I've written about it through the years, but FOTM HOFer Cam Gordon just grabbed this image that serves as a great reminder of the time CFNY played a whack of Top 40.
Between the Spirit of Radio era and 90s Alt Rock era there was CFNY FM 102 Modern Rock where acts like Madonna, Janet Jackson, Tina Turner, Milli Vanilli and even Skid Row got plenty of spins.
It wasn't until the summer of '89 when Maclean-Hunter acquired Selkirk and returned the station to a more alternative bent. Madonna and Janet Jackson were banished forever.
And yes, that's Rita McNeil on the Top 40 Hit List. Hopefully it was the House Remix.
