Steve Anthony's tenure as morning show host on CFNY 102.1 has been discussed on Toronto Mike'd often, particularly during conversations with Fred Patterson and Steve himself. Steve, a DJ on Montreal's CKGM, left the city for a gig in Toronto on Q107. Then, MuchMusic called and he jumped at the chance to become a VJ.
While a VJ on MuchMusic, CFNY offered to make Steve Anthony their new morning show host, alongside Fred Patterson, a holdover from Pete and Geets. For more on why Pete and Geets came to an end, don't miss Geets Romo on Toronto Mike'd.
Steve managed to hold down two key Toronto media gigs for a couple of years before leaving CFNY early in 1989. Later that year, Humble Howard Glassman would arrive from Montreal to sit across from Fred and Humble and Fred was born.

Steve joked with me that his employers at CHUM-City only allowed him to work at CFNY because the station was so small and inconsequential it wasn't deemed a threat to CHUM.
