There are over 1900 episodes of Toronto Mike'd, with many running well over 90 minutes in length. Needless to say, that's a lot of data.
I recently decided to move the show to a new host, and by host I mean server, not that thing that I do yakking into a microphone. Acast has an import tool where you submit your RSS feed (the public URL for the XML file) and it essentially sucks in the data: titles, descriptions, images, and of course, those 1900+ MP3 files.
This Acast import tool never stood a chance. I honestly don't think it was ever considered that one day it would have a task this large. There was essentially no retry capability built in, and at the end of the process, run numerous times, the success rate was about 60%. That meant almost a thousand files to manually upload before redirecting the feed to the new home.
The work-around was to use the Spotify import tool to put the files on their server, and then to import into Acast via Spotify.
That's great, but Spotify did this sneaky thing where the tool refused to import any episodes that had previously been flagged by Spotify for violating copyright laws. So when the dust settled and the show was ready to go-live on Acast, ~60 episodes were missing. I've been re-adding these episodes to the feed and should complete this tedious task by the end of the month.
