Despite having been legal drinking age for over three decades in this city, I had never been to The Imperial Pub at 54 Dundas St E. I didn't go to the school now known as TMU, I went to U of T, but to be honest, I'm not really a pub guy. So yesterday, I went on a pilgrimage of sorts, to drink at The Imperial Pub before it closes for good on November 15, 2025.
I felt a bit like Indiana Jones, recording ancient Toronto history. I snapped a bunch of pictures, filled with sadness that after 81 years it's being demolished to make room for a 23-storey mixed-use complex, with 336 affordable residential rental units for TMU students.
