The beard! Two and a half hours!

Oh boy! Oh boy! Oh boy!

Have you heard adults who say the word escape as "eck-scape" ?

December 23, 2018 @ 4:43 PM

Jody Thornton

The last time I heard it pronounced that way was in 1996 on the Eurodance record "Go On" by JK. She signs, "I have to Eck-scape from here"

But I'm sure English wasn't her first language.

December 23, 2018 @ 4:58 PM

Jody Thornton

Er, by the way I spelled "sings" in the last post, you'd figure that English wasn't my first language either :p

Urooj Islam

I'm waiting patiently for LieveFamke to check in to see if you pronounced "LieveFamke" correctly or not.

December 23, 2018 @ 7:27 PM

@Urooj, you tell me.. did he?? I'm a couple of episodes behind!

I didn’t realize Elvis cursed so much until I tried to listen to the episode with my 5 year old in the car with me. Hard stop on that. Will have to listen later on my AirPods.

Merry Christmas to all.

Looking forward to an amazing set of new episodes in 2019.

Elvis does have a potty mouth. In my best Mark Dailey voice, "listener discretion advised".

Less swears than normal in this one, but he does come flying out of the gate with a few F bombs.

December 24, 2018 @ 8:23 AM

the brother

Underwhelmed, great tune to kick it off. Merry effin festivus boys!

December 24, 2018 @ 8:43 AM

Came out of the gate hot in this one, but it was Festivus! Thanks for listening everyone - I hope you enjoyed the show!

December 24, 2018 @ 8:57 AM

@Urooj, I'm going to have to accept Mike has problems with pronunciation of certain words (women/woman, LieveFamke) but I'm not going to razz him because I got Palma Pasta lasagna.

@Mike, and @Elvis, yes you answered my question. I really didn't think you were starring in a porn..

@Elvis, yes you met me at TMXL2!

P.s. Apparently I screwed up my Warrant discography. Heaven was on the first album, Cherry Pie was on the second album. My sincerest apologies.

p.p.s. If Toronto morning show hosts could stop taking shots at me, I'd appreciate it. Peace and love to all!!!!!

December 24, 2018 @ 9:56 AM

@Mike, re: p.p.s - still?? really got under his skin!!

LieveFamke and jj are like Toronto Mike's unicorns, female listeners!

He brings you guys up on every episode with elvis.

December 24, 2018 @ 2:08 PM

Urooj Islam - LOL. Rarity is a good thing

Also, I LOVE that Elvis noted that Milan's question was not answered on the diversity podcast.

Don't forget Moose Grumpy... and Stephanie Wilkinson... and Liz... and Linda and Andie... that's at least 8!

TM - the future is female ;)

My favourite part of this episode is elvis making crude sexual comments during every power ballad about popping teen boners and rubbing up against girls then completely shutting down when Mike jokingly asked him about his sex life with his wife.

December 24, 2018 @ 2:53 PM

Urooj Islam - he works in HR, he knows that his boss - Mrs Elvis don't want their details out for the whole world to know haha.

December 24, 2018 @ 3:50 PM

My sex life is way to hardcore for this podcast.

December 24, 2018 @ 4:03 PM

elvis - i hadn't considered that.

I love More than Words!!!!

December 24, 2018 @ 4:16 PM

Songs with the same name - Slow Hands - the Pointer Sisters and Niall Horan!

Appreciated hearing The Ramones singing 'Happy Birthday' in the episode, especially since it was you who turned me on to the brilliant 'Talking Simpsons' podcast.

To paraphrase former US politician George Wallace in 1963: "YBS now, YBS tomorrow, YBS forever."

December 24, 2018 @ 5:01 PM

@Urooj, unicorns are real!
At TMXL3, there's going to be an unicorn only table!!

In this episode, elvis mentioned how annoying it is when people put their garbage out on the curb the night before pick-up, giving it 12-14 hours to blow in the wind or get ripped apart by animals.

Imagine how annoying it is during weeks with holidays like the next couple of weeks when people put garbage out on the curb the night before the night before pick-up because pick-up gets moved back a day and everyone forgets.

At least it's raining and unseasonably warm so the entire street will smell like shit for 36 hours.

Very late posting on this one, but major technical problems at the library over
the past several days. Anyway, an incredible episode and probably my favourite
Festivus-extravaganza to date! Also quite pleased to finally hear most of the story
surrounding TM's brief period as tech support on the fringes of the local porn industry
during a previous lull in his professional life!! Nice of him and Elvis to give a complete
breakdown of the 'diverse' group of images involved in said enterprise, although clinical
or not, I doubt that I could have handled that kind of wang overkill!!! And now for a trio
of further observations on this ep.'s awesome Power Ballad component:

#1. Kudos to TM for his keen observations regarding the difference in piano volume
levels between the '85 and '91 versions of The Crue's "Home Sweet Home." Most

#2. Quite surprised that more discussion wasn't centred around some of the more
serious topics often featured in this particular hard rock sub-genre: Child Abuse, Substance Abuse, Domestic Abuse and Suicide. A nice (WELL. relatively speaking!)
lyrical change of pace from the usual Sex, Drugs, and Rock and Roll rigmarole!!

#3. Other great, perhaps overlooked Power Ballads:
Kix-"Don't Close Your Eyes"
Slaughter-"Fly To The Angels"
Motorhead-"Don't Let Daddy Kiss Me"
Killer Dwarfs-"It Doesn't Matter
Faster Pussycat-"House Of Pain"
L.A. Guns-"Ballad Of Jayne"
Ozzy Osbourne-"Mama, I'm Coming Home"
Judas Priest-"Before The Dawn"
Cinderella-'Nobody's Fool"
Winger-"Headed For A Heartbreak"

December 28, 2018 @ 4:17 PM

I had Don't Know What You Got (Till It's Gone) by Cinderella on my short list. That's a great Ozzy tune and one I should have had on there. I should have also had Angel by Aerosmith. So many great tunes...hard to just pick five. Great list 73 and thanks for listening!

I don't understand, elvis, he rips Toronto Mike for being too nostalgic then gets nostalgic himself about 40-50 year old songs.

December 30, 2018 @ 5:55 PM

Finally listening.

Santa left my gifts unwrapped too Mike. We each had a "zone"

It's perfectly normal. Santa doesn't have time to wrap all that shit. It's madness.

LMAO I made an appearance!

Yes, my beard is quite white now too.

Cheers to Elvis and his majestic beard. Always my favorite episode.

I give it an 8.5 out of 10. was going to give it a 9 but fuck Elvis and his whole numbers...

At least I know I am not out on a limb by myself in my love for the elvis Festivus episode.

Good to see Beatts agrees.

These episodes are fantastic, already listened 3 times to it over the last week during various commutes.
