Yesterday I donated millions of stem cells to my sister who has leukemia. She will undergo a transplant in April at PMH. I'm so glad that I am the lucky person to help her.

So, on Thursday, February 26, 2015 - where were you when you heard that David Clarkson was no longer a Maple Leaf?

Seriously, incredible trade. Miraculous, even. Getting that albatross off the books is a huge positive step forward for the team.

Still hope Nonis gets the boot, though.

I wish your sister a speedy recovery.

My son got the alert on his phone and told me. I thought it was a clever joke.

February 27, 2015 @ 8:37 AM

Am I the only one who sees it a blue and brown?

February 27, 2015 @ 8:53 AM

I was driving to the airport to drop someone and I was in shock..not a few hours before I wrote here that he was the only untradable because of his contract. goes to show I know nothing :) well when it comes to Hockey contracts anyway

I was just reading up on the science behind this illusion. I see white and gold, but the white is so shady it could be a light blue.

And the gold is kind of brownish.

I certainly see no black.

February 27, 2015 @ 8:57 AM

Re: the dress
Maybe I'm not getting the joke or gag but when I checked Google to see what the hell people were talking about some of the images were clearly white and gold while others were black and blue. Therefore, the answer to this question is BOTH.

February 27, 2015 @ 9:05 AM

I looked at the same image on my phone and people saw different things. This was before I saw the Twitter explosion.

It's the same photo but our willy human brains are messing us up.

February 27, 2015 @ 9:14 AM

@Toronto Mike

EXACTLY. That's the thing that's been bugging me the most about the dress. In the original photo, there isn't even a hint of black. I can see why some people might see blue, but black? No. I just don't get it.

Is everyone excited about Dean Blundell's Fan 590 debut Monday morning?

the 'white' in the photo above is more like soot-stained snow - a light blue grey
actual white is like the milky space around the letters on this page

February 27, 2015 @ 9:44 AM

For what it's worth, my brain sees only a blue dress with black lace trim, black waistline and black yoke, although the black is not a jet black, more like a very dark brown. I am seeing this in natural light. (On my laptop, which obviously distorts colour a bit.) I can't fathom how people see this as white and gold. I tried to see it that way but just cannot. I don't get it....

February 27, 2015 @ 9:48 AM

I see..Blue and greenish gold.

February 27, 2015 @ 9:54 AM

@ Elba
It would be a privilege to do this for anyone, especially a sister. More people should consider registering. Well done! And all the best to your sister.

There are five or six photos of this dress floating around. In one of them an (obvious) alien is using an Etch-a-Sketch. While a swat team waits outside the phone booth to nab 'it.' The mystery is deepening.

Nostradamus warned about this dress. 'And when the tunnel appears and a dress seen two ways know the hour of judgement is almost upon you.'

February 27, 2015 @ 10:00 AM

All I see is a shitty looking white and brown dress!

February 27, 2015 @ 10:02 AM

Today's Star: "Final word: #TheDress is black and blue, says retailer"

They're going to film the dress in slow motion after dropping it from a helicopter into one of those Siberian craters caused by the permafrost melting and methane being released. The dress 'might' change colour in transit going down, down, down

February 27, 2015 @ 10:31 AM

Al The Royal Pain featured one of my tweets on their site yesterday!

I hear they're opening 2 Tim Horton's franchises, one in each end of the #TorontoTunnel.

Jihadi John

I see the dress. I see Argie in the dress as my Persian Princess.

February 27, 2015 @ 10:41 AM

"Jihadi John" Is that like Nazi Norm?

February 27, 2015 @ 11:04 AM

I don't care about Clarkson. I got an email alert about it, but it didn't come to my work email. When I finished work, I checked my email and there it was. Elba, glad you could help your sister. Hope it does help. How about those Habs. Great win again. They are going to beat the Leafs tomorrow night. This is weird. My Coyotes are in boston at 5:30 tomorrow so I'll be listening to that game and late tuning into my Habs. Brier is tomorrow, one day away. Go Kean or Menard. I prefer to have Kean win though. They're my favourite team that my trainer is not on.

Maybe I've done some good deeds lately...
Yesterday, I was at a lunch presentation in downtown (sic) Whitby. The luncheon was scheduled to run until 1:30 p.m. I had enough coins on me for 1:45 in parking, so that's what I paid for, just in case. The whole thing runs late, partly from our food taking longer to come than was expected. Getting close to 2:00 p.m., we're done and I head out to my car, hoping that I don't have a parking ticket on my windshield. Right in front of my car, with the meter blinking red for expired time, is a parking enforcement officer. He is inputting data on his device as I run to the car, me yelling nicely "Whoa! Whoa!". He looks up and says, "I haven't seen you run that fast since high school!" (No, we don't know each other.) He smiles and laughs, walks away from my car. "Thank you very much!" "Aw, you're welcome. Thanks for supporting Whitby." Nice.

Got lured into the McDonalds coffee promotion this morning. Got a large coffee for $0.80. The small coffee is free. I have to admit, not bad coffee...

That's my drink during my son's hockey games. A large McDonald's coffee.

Every other cup I drink during the week is brewed at home in the french press.

February 27, 2015 @ 11:42 AM

I find MCy'Ds coffee is superior to mr. Hortons now a days.

We now know who will be joining Dean Blundell on Monday morning:

Kayla Harris and George Rusic.

These are new names to me. Is anyone familiar with either one?

February 27, 2015 @ 11:47 AM

Tim Hortons reminds me of Blackberry..
they sat while other caught up and passed them..

February 27, 2015 @ 11:52 AM

No surprise on the Blundell sidekicks. There weren't going to bring in a "name" as all they want is someone to laugh at Blundell's idiotic jokes (i.e. a sidekick).

February 27, 2015 @ 12:00 PM

Mike Gamble

I've heard Rusic before. He hosts a bunch on the Fan on weekends.

February 27, 2015 @ 1:17 PM

I still believe the move to put Blundell on the morning show of the Fan will be a disaster.

February 27, 2015 @ 1:34 PM

If Saddam was still in power he would have dealt with those ISIS pricks in about half an hour. They'd
be lion food. Well 'we' screwed that up royally.

February 27, 2015 @ 2:00 PM

Maybe you're right but we'd still have Boko whatever in Nigeria. We'd still have the slaughter of innocents in Paris. We'd still still have the hacking to death with machetes of a freaking blogger in Bangladesh and we'd still have the countless other incidents around the world by these people. I could go on....

@TO Mike

No, I don't like Dean Blundell but I would still like to hear your spot with him.

The take on the Clarkson trade is interesting. One columnist (I think Bruce Arthur) said the Columbus initiated the deal, but I also read another columnist (Steve Simmons?) who said the Toronto brain trust came up with the idea.

Regardless, Mike, you still must do your "DAVID CLARKSON SCORES!" twitter updates. I wish him well.

Ok everyone, you won't want to miss episode 112 with Mark Hebscher:

Mark Hebscher tells a series of awesome stories. I also talk to Hebsy about the David Clarkson trade, Dean Blundell's new morning show and the Mike Wilner episode.

February 27, 2015 @ 3:18 PM

Full disclaimer I have satellite radio but I am looking forward to Blundells show on the fan. I'm curious to see how it goes.

February 27, 2015 @ 4:17 PM

4x4 Time

I have long given up listening to the drab on Sports Radio so I could care less about Blundell...But for all so called "insiders" in the Toronto media, I don't think any one of them had a sniff on the Clarkson deal. Anyone could have predicted the UFA players would be dealt. How hard is it really to be a hockey "insider"...Any openings?

February 27, 2015 @ 5:31 PM

Two guys and a girl morning show. It's already so different from every other morning show on the planet.
Dean has someone to demean and someone to humiliate.

What happens with Brady & Walker? They have what's left of their contracts, but those are morning show dollars. What kind of cut do you take to move to the afternoon slot?

February 27, 2015 @ 7:02 PM

I believe their compensation remains unchanged.

February 27, 2015 @ 7:15 PM

Jason from Sudbury

Yeah, I've heard George Rusic either fill in for others or do shows on weekends.

February 27, 2015 @ 9:09 PM

@4x4 Time

Anyone of us on this blog could fill the shoes of most of the so called Hockey Insiders. It's a joke really. And people follow this stuff??
It's as bad as the 15 minutes of fame the dress lady got today . Hahahah what a laugh.

February 27, 2015 @ 9:22 PM

Drunk Johnny Fever

Article in Saturday Toronto Star Q & A with Dean Blundell.

It says “Nothing was off-limits in Friday’s question-and-answer session. Blundell didn’t duck any questions. ”

Part way in the blurb he is quoted as saying ” I love sports. I’m a sports head. I watch the SportsCentre loop every morning.

Hahaha oh my side he is on Rogers payroll and beginning on Monday to be on air but,is quoted as saying he watches SportsCentre every morning.

Last time I turned on the TV SportsCentre was a TSN product the direct competition!!!

One can only assume Sportsnet Connected his employers product did not make the cut for his viewing pleasure.

Hahahah..great way to start a new job…Oh my side.

February 28, 2015 @ 3:43 AM

Well, my Nets lost last night. That was no good at all, but the Raptors lost again which is wonderful. Anyway, Habs 10 Leafs 0. Hope my Coyotes win as well. Very interesting. Coyotes at 5:30 which means that game isn't going to end until 8:30 or so and then tune into the Habs. I hope they will have a big lead on the Leafs before I tune it in. Hattrick for PK Subban, Brendan Gallagher and Max Pacioretty. Shutout for Carey Price. Who doesn't like Carey Price. He's so awesome. Brier is today. Woohoo. Let's go Kean. As I said, they're my favourite team that my trainer or anyone related to my trainer is playing on. Why not. Good young team with good potential.

February 28, 2015 @ 7:45 AM

Re: Argie @ 14:26

You're like somebody opening the fridge door to 150 lbs of rotting meat, vegetables and fruit saying LOOK AT THESE EGGS. LOOKING AT THESE FUCKING EGGS. I'LL NUMBER THEM FOR YOU.

March 1, 2015 @ 6:51 AM

My Coyotes lost. That sucks. My Habs won though. That's great and the Leafs lost. My Nets won and the Raptors lost. My Coyotes lost. It was all good except for my Suns and Coyotes. Kean won their first game of the Brier beating Prince Edward Island. I can't remember the team they beat, but they won and that's all that matters. Menard lost though to Jacobs, no good. Well, my number one team here is Kean. I want them to win more than Menard, but Menard winning will give me my money as well though.

Yeah "rot" is apt word.

March 1, 2015 @ 11:22 AM

Argie sees the 'big picture' as long as its one corner.

March 1, 2015 @ 12:15 PM

Well, Kean and Menard played each other today earlier and Kean won. That's great although either way would have been a win for my pool. Menard won the second game so that helps. Anyway, I really need to win the money so I better win this pool.

March 1, 2015 @ 8:07 PM

Kean lost last night to Koe. Bummer. That sucked. I hope they can find a way to beat Jacobs. Menard didn't play last night. Anyway, let's hope Kean gets back to winning. The Leafs lost last night. That's a great thing.

March 2, 2015 @ 7:28 AM

I told you there was nothing to get excited about. I'm a hole. Nothing more, nothing less.

March 2, 2015 @ 10:55 AM

The Leafs did what I thought they would do on trade deadline day.....nothing.

The trading of legendary Leaf Olli Jokinen to the Blues for a draft pick is hardly nothing!
