The only reason I even heard DBs name is because of this post. Does anyone even listen to the Edge mourning show any more?

@Pete

Judging by the emails I got about this bit, the answer is yes. People are listening.

There's a reason I never listened to the Dean Blundell Show and that was a reminder as to why.

Humble and Fred should make the most of this and get into a slanging match- it'll be great publicity. Booo Mr Blundell.

Gerry Dee is on the Blundell Show now? Too bad. I like him. Guess he won't be making an appearance on the H&F podcast anytime soon.

Justin

The only person who sounds like he's "bitching, moaning, whining, and complaining" is Dean Blundell.

December 3, 2013 @ 7:22 PM

Nancy Drew

I agree with Justin. And where does all this vitriol come from? Holy crap Batman.

Just Radio guys going off on each other. They all have their talking points about the industry, but I enjoy H&F, never have listened to Blundell.

Get Real

Blundell spent years ragging on Mad Dog & Billie, now one is his co-host ... it's called showbiz...

Is this all staged?

December 4, 2013 @ 6:44 AM

Corey

@Anon - could be, if Blundell specifically referenced who he's talking about. Not great publicity right now, as it would be pretty difficult for current listeners who would have no idea who H&F were to figure it out. Let's see if this continues...

Anonymous was me. Sorry about that. If this is real...why would he do that? I think sometimes Dean tries too hard to stir things up.

December 4, 2013 @ 9:01 AM

markosaar

@Gary, he seemed to really take offense to people stating that Todd was the funny one on his show.

I can't recall though if H&F actually said that when they had him on. They barely touched the Blundell show at all.

Hey Mike, when do the next ratings come out for radio

What a wonderful world this would be if everyone lived a life code like Dean Blundell...I believe the last guy that should be giving moral compass advice is him...what an ass. Obviously Billie Holiday has the integrity of Ed McMahon...given the cordial words of H&F.....

December 4, 2013 @ 10:26 AM

Al The Royal Pain

Great, now I have to start listening to H&F again just to hear their reaction to this asshat.

December 4, 2013 @ 10:44 AM

@Al: their segment on Blundell starts at 44 minutes in if you want to skip to it

Does anyone have the coles notes version of this? I have no desire to hear DB's voice, and I'm way too behind on podcasts to catch up on H&F

Thanks @markosaar, listening now.

Good for them for taking the high-road. DB (douchebag) is being very short-sighted...his industry is very fickle and he could find himself on the other end of his comments as quickly as you can say "DB, no one is listening, you're fired".

December 4, 2013 @ 11:20 AM

Stew

Dean's rant made me so squeamish at how stupid he sounded. His spewing rebuttal was solely based on hearsay.
If he had have listened to Todd's segment himself, he wouldn't be sitting here with egg on his face.
It's painfully obvious how bad he wants to be Howard Stern as you can hear his insecurities unravel on the air everyday. It's like watching a train wreck and extremely uncomfortable causing severe 2nd hand embarrassment. Especially the conclusions he jumps to w/o facts and hysterically laughing at his own jokes.

Unfortunately the guy always feels threatened and has sacrificed many friendships and relationships along the way if he's every felt threatened on his quest to be the King of Dick and Fart jokes.

Hopefully the guy can find peace with himself soon, especially as it now seems he has now surrounded himself with those who will pump his tires and constantly give him pats on the back. Even if it is those that he used to throw under the bus before joining his show.

Deans ratings have been dwindling for years.

I recall, in about 2011, Dean going off about Billie getting fired from Virgin, saying her and her counterpart going from station to station never amounting to anything. And then proceeded to say that Billie looks like her face was on fire which was out with golf shoes. But he has a problem with Humble and Fred saying anything. That show died the day Todd left, and it was bleeding out long before. I played the Boooorrrrring clip on that show and switched the dial back in the summer. It's Indie 88 or AM talk radio for me now.

I'm curious as to whether there is anything that is not being said by either parties that we are unaware of. Whether there is something from the past that no one has brought up yet that is the real seed in all of this or whether it's simply trash talking for the hell of it.

"A little eff....all he does is take shots behind the microphone."

Wow Blundell.. This is a sad, sad attempt to stir the pot up, by a sad, sad man. Quality over quantity, and you sir, spout metric tonnes of shit. And by the looks of the responses, Humble and Fred seem to have ample support.

H+F's response was perfect. Intelligence prevails and they certainly displayed that, always have. Bravo.

Blundell didn't even have the balls to name Humble and Fred..okay tough guy..

Maybe he could intern for H&F when the edge gets rid of him sooner than later...

December 4, 2013 @ 6:00 PM

Get Real

H+F repeatedly state that they could have stayed on CFNY all this time but management encouraged the move away to salvage hopeless 640 AM and get a younger guy into 102.1 FM.

Obviously, from the way they talk about it, there was a short term financial incentive traded for security.

Thank you for reminder of why I don't listen to his show anymore! He is ridiculous.. he spends hours from behind the microphone saying things and insulting people .... can anyone say hypocrite?
Jason leaving was a big blow but I loved Todd so I listened the second he was gone I stopped listening and I know I am not the only one. It is more the MEAN Blundell show than anything and to create a show from making fun of people and bashing people is pathetic. Humble and Fred are a treasure and should be respected as such! Dean is only good at getting anyone who is more talented than him fired. Jason has moved on and so will Todd... onto bigger and better things. I love your podcast it makes my afternoons!! Thank you for doing your "little" thing! Seems to me you are the winners because you are not censored ;)

S.A.L.

To be honest I don't really remember Jason or Todd at all & I never really connected with Blundell when he started so I have no idea if he is funny on his own or not.

I do remember that Humble & Fred have always spoken with respect regarding Dean & his show over the past 3 years.

Humble even thanked Dean on air for being a good guy when Dean did him a favour for his daughter to get tickets for a band one time.

Thier comment about how Jason & Todd where the funniest part of the show was their opinion & did not come across as a attack of Dean. (though maybe a shot at him)

Dean's comments came a crossed mean spirited which is unfortunate & it is what it is.. whatever….

I was more disappointed in hearing Jerry D & Billie chirp in (a wee bit) acknowledging Deans rant thus giving him some credence.

Both have been guests on the H&F show this past year & they where treated with warmth & respect.

Billie I would give a pass to.. as she is the new kid on the team & has to pay the rent. (still a putana move IMO)

But Jerry D??? I was surprised & disappointed by his ironic comment about fake people being nice to your face & talking about you behind your back.

I wonder if he was looking at Billie at that moment… perhaps winking at her… letting her know he was just stroking Dean along in front of his face.

JD is smart/witty enough to pull that off & make Dean look silly right on the spot… or perhaps he simply wanted to hear his own mono-toned voice on the air... we will never know.

It reminds me of that scene in "The Sopranos" where Tony is at a poker game.. wondering who is his friend because he is the boss & who is the real deal.

He says something half ass funny & the room erupts with a roar of laughter… he scans the crowd in slow motion & you can feel the loneliness at his realization that it is all a act for his behalf.. a big joke on him.

Dean is now like Tony Soprano.. all alone (& not funny) in that studio… & no one has the guts to tell him that he has on no clothes :-(

I stopped listening to Blundell once the H&F podcast started 2+ years ago. Much more entertaining than most of what Blundell ever blurted. I am a proud H&F 100%'r. As I reflect, I am saddened that I wasted my time listening to less than 1% of Blunder show. 6-18 months and he will be off to Moose Jaw to host the Sunday evening funnies.

Dean's hypocrisy is mind-blowing. He is literally criticizing people for doing exactly what he does - talking sh!t behind a microphone. His insecurities are so blatant - whenever he feels threatened he lashes out with crude and childish insults. I hope the majority of his listeners eventually come to see what kind of person he is, and that their taste in entertainment matures so that this idiot gets left behind.

Mr No Talent goes off on the best morning show the Edge ever had. Of course the Edge is about as edgy as an egg.

Interestingly enough, it looks like DB and his producer may want to start podcasting themselves now that their show has been "suspended". BTW - Podcasting can be a great revenue generating business. I think Humble & Fred are doing an awesome job and taking control of their own careers rather than leaving it up to Corporate Execs who don't know what they're doing.

Dean Blundell is the biggest tool in the world. I wish him nothing but the worst. He's a stooge. A sell out. I used to listen to him trash talk Billy Holiday and now all of a sudden, he's co-host with her? lol. Give me a f'n break. What a tool. F you Dean, you son of a biatch.

I'm so out of the loop on all the drama, but I will say I was an avid listener back in the day to the H+F on the edge. When the change happened I listed out of familiarity to the station and soon realized Dean's brand of humour was not my thing. I haven't listened to his show since. 102.1 lost a loyal listener that year. It also appears that karma was served. Dean can soon be one of those out of jobbers looking to get back on radio. But I don't think it'll happen any time soon.

Remember Pig Vomit?
Corus and the Edge made a bad business decision in firing Dean Blundell

Perhaps the most intriguing element of this entire situation is the role played by people that don't even listen to the show. From what I can tell, Corus caved into public pressure from a loud of group of PC wankers who had likely never even heard of Dean Blundell until he arrived on their stuffy radars this fall. So Corus, quite familiar with DBS's style for over 13 years, makes the courageous decision to fire the guy? Did I mention Corus had absolutely no issue with the comments until the convicted sex offender's lawyer submitted an appeal which prompted all the public attention?

I have satellite radio in my car, so it has been quite some time since I have listened to "Wa'Happened?". Nevertheless, in my view Corus has made a major error dumping the DBS. First, it is incredibly hypocritical to fire DB for doing what he as always done (especially when it has made the company millions). Second, more people are aware of DB now than ever before. Haven't these guys seen Private Parts? The talent that generates the most fines and attention (negative or positive) also tends to generate the most ad dollars.

The DBS show will land safely somewhere else; likely more popular than they have ever been.
