My Favourite Opening Day

bluejays

The last Blue Jays home opener I attended was their final home opener at Exhibition Stadium in 1989.  Jimmy Key pitched a shut out and it was well worth skipping school.

It was a lot of fun being there, but that wasn't my best Blue Jays opening day memory.  My favourite opening day was 1988 when George Bell went deep three times off of Royals ace Bret Saberhagen.

I wrote a fun, fact-filled entry about that game here if you'd like to click through and read more.  I hope you do.

Tonight, I'll be watching on television.  Before we anoint this team our best since '93, I'd like to see us win a few games.  Here's hoping that starts with R.A. Dickey on the mound tonight.
