XMp3 Player With XM Satellite Radio

XMA package arrived for me today with a letter. Here's how that letter started.

You are one of only 25 individuals in Canada who will receive this exclusive XMp3 Kit!

Your XMp3 Experience includes:

  • 1 XMp3 player
  • 1 XMp3 accessory kit (earbuds, remote control, home antenna, home dock, and more)
  • 1 year subscription to XM Satellite Radio
  • 1 bag of XM Swag (water bottle, hat, notebook, pen)

I've been playing with it for the past hour and having fun. I've heard some alt rock on Lithium, some live Neil Young on The Loft, Norm McDonald on Laugh Attack, some pop on Top 20 on 20, some indie on XMU and some cat named Mad Dog talkin' sports. I've tried recording a few tunes to MP3 and now I'm setting up the XM2go Music Manager to run this thing from my laptop.

After I spend more time with my new toy I'll write a review.

i found some good music with my 6 month xm subscription. only had it in the car, and i just canceled about a month ago and kinda miss it. but when you have an mp3 player and can get pointed to new music on various blogs (stereogum, i (heart) music...) it's not too hard to be without it. i did listen to xm52theverge alot. check that out.

The Verge does sound pretty good. I have it here on channel 87.

I found the typo!

For some reason I thought I might be able to listen to XM through my laptop if I connected this XMp3 Player via USB.

You can't. I did transfer over some MP3s though, without a problem.

Now I just need Howard Stern to make his way over to XM...

Sat Radio hasn't penetrated itself into my life yet but i am interested and on the occasion where i did use XM I was fairly impressed with Lithium.

I'll be number 26 for the exclusive kit!!

mike, when i had my account, i was able to listen online. http://xmro.xmradio.com/xstream/index.jsp and set up an account. i don't think all channels are available, but it will allow you to listen without the xmp3 player.

Enjoy your foray into satellite radio. I had been debating reupping but with the addition of Little Steven's Underground and Jam On they may have hooked me for another year.

I would recommend you check out 43,47, and 54. Great stations.

I had XM for about a year. Had a unit for my car and another for the house. I enjoyed a few different channels such as Fred and Lucy. It was nice to have commercial free radio, but after the novelty wore off, I didn't think it was worth the cost.
