Help Lisa (And Me)

XXXOne of my favourite memories is of an October 5th Saturday afternoon in 1985. I've written about this day in great detail. The Blue Jays clinched their first divisional pennant when my favourite Jay George Bell caught a Ron Hassey fly ball and immediately dropped to his knees in celebration. I cut out the photo of George Bell celebrating and still have it today.

A comment was just left on that entry from Lisa. Here's what she wrote:

Like you, my brother's all time favourite player is George Bell...for his birthday I'm trying to find the picture of him making the game winning catch in 1985. The closest I've come is your picture of the picture.. do you have any idea where I could find this? For years my brother had the picture from the newspaper on his wall... Thanks for any help you can offer.

That image of Bell on the ground celebrating and Tony Fernandez running up to him means so much to me, I'm amazed by how hard it is to find online. I've done several Google searches and I've come up empty. My Google-fu is rarely so weak, so I'm issuing a challenge.

Find the image below and help Lisa make her brother's day. You might make mine as well. Ladies and gentlemen, start your searching!

Most newspapers have an archive of photo's that can be ordered online. I'd start with the Toronto Star...

I just sent this link to Lisa. Alison, of course, that's the best route. If I ever live in a place that has a den or man room or whatever, I'm going to get a nice shot of George's catch and put it on the wall.

For an 11 year old, that was nirvana.

Thank you for all of the help/suggestions. I've done some searching - I've e-mailed The Sun and The Star and the Blue Jays. The Blue Jays response was:
"I have been advised that we do not have this picture.
I would suggest that you contact the newspaper and see if they can retrieve a copy for you"
I haven't heard from The Sun yet and got the following repy from The Star:
"Thank you for your e-mail regarding the George Bell photo. Unfortunately, due to rights restrictions, we are unable to offer photos from professional baseaball games. However, the page reprint which includes the photo is available for purchase"
The page is $100... which seems a lot considering I only want the picture... we'll see. Does anyone who has the original picture be able to tell me who is credited with taking the picture? (it usually says)

I've got that picture in my old scrap book, which is probably boxed up somewhere. I'll see if I can dig it out and read the name.

I knew I should have taken a high res pic of that Star cover...
