Scott Oake joined Hockey Night in Canada in 1989 and has announced his final broadcast will be April 11, 2026. I always admired Scott's work covering hockey, but his greater legacy might be founding the Bruce Oake Recovery Centre in Winnipeg following his son’s overdose death in 2011.
Five decades in broadcasting, dozens of Stanley Cup Playoffs, 14 Olympics, and a Gemini Award... Congrats to Scott Oake. I'll try and get Scott in the basement for an exit interview.
