When they announce the Best Picture nominees for the Oscars each year, I try to see them all before the Academy Awards. This past weekend, I watched Marty Supreme.
Timothée Chalamet is fantastic, but he's always fantastic. The movie is pretty good, but not good enough. The film is not good enough for me to overlook a major role being played by that traitor Kevin O'Leary.
I preferred Uncut Gems to Marty Supreme, if you're keeping score at home. But if I'm going to be expected to focus on O'Leary for that many minutes, the film is going to have to be near-perfect.
I far preferred Hamnet and One Battle After Another. I'll be fine with either film taking home the top prize.
