The Pitt's season two will be streaming next week. I thoroughly enjoyed The Pitt's first season, but I kept hearing echoes from a show I watched in the 90s. It reminded me of ER.
Michael Crichton's widow hears the echoes as well, and she's suing the creators of The Pitt. One of those creators, John Wells, initially pitched The Pitt as an ER reboot, with Noah Wyle set to play John Carter again. When they couldn't reach an agreement with Crichton's estate, they retooled it.
What happened, once I finished the 15 hours of The Pitt, is I had an itch to revisit ER. I had watched the first eight seasons with my first wife, but my current wife had never seen it, so we put on the pilot and started watching an episode a night.
For those first eight seasons, I knew the major plot developments, but in season nine I was seeing ER episodes for the first time. We're now in season 10 of 15 and it's been great fun. Outside of live sports, it's literally the only television I've watched since April.
Watching it again, it's interesting to see the actors who appear before they were famous. Here's a few:
- Aaron Paul
- Christina Hendricks
- Amy Ryan
- Mariska Hargitay
- Elizabeth Mitchell
- Kirsten Dunst
- Gabrielle Union
- Taraji P. Henson
- Jurnee Smollett
- Zac Efron
- Chris Pine
- Shia LaBeouf
- Anton Yelchin
- Jessica Chastain
- Dakota Fanning
- Eva Mendes
- Nick Offerman
- Aaron Paul
- Octavia Spencer
- Lucy Liu
