From Rear Window to The Simpsons

For 35 years, I've had a note to watch Alfred Hitchcock's Rear Window. I finally did that today.

There's a pianist in this film played by Ross Bagdasarian, better known as Dave Seville of Alvin and the Chipmunks fame. Before the Chipmunks, Bagdasarian wrote "Come On-a My House", a hit for Rosemary Clooney, and "Hey, Brother, Pour the Wine", a hit for Dean Martin.

"Hey, Brother, Pour the Wine" is best known to yours truly because Marge Simpson sings it in a very early episode of The Simpsons entitled "There's No Disgrace Like Home".

That's a very strange episode of The Simpsons where up is down and East is West. Marge gets hammered and Homer sells the TV to help save the family. Things would rapidly evolve rather differently.
