Dealing with Covid-19 related loneliness for Torontonians

Torontonians, don’t feel lonely . . .

Just yesterday (February 11,th 2021), it was reported that Ontario had over 900 Covid-19 related cases.

Although it's a tad bit less than what we were experiencing before, it's still a lot.

Covid-19 has brought some very unique challenges. It has disrupted industries, destroyed economies and the list literally goes on.

That said, if we Torontonians (All of Ontario actually) stick together.

We can beat this.

However, for that to truly happen, we have to find ways to fight off these new mental health issues. Occurring in Canadians all across the board due to isolation and loneliness.

Many residents of Toronto have reported feeling 'depressed' or even checked into local clinics for mental health related reasons. As human beings, we are not just designed to stay home but right now, we must.

We have to muster the strength to get through this. Together.

Here are a few tips to help you find more joy when you are home during these interesting times.

1. Have regular zoom calls with your loved ones.

Although this depends on how good of a relationship you have with your family, try to be in touch on a regular basis. You must have these zoom calls as human connection is essential during this time.

Get on the call, crack some jokes. Have fun positive conversations. Just remember to avoid politics like why Kawhi Leonard left the raptors. These kinds of topics may have the opposite effect. So keep things fun and positive and most importantly, get in touch with your friends and family on a regular basis.

If you don't know anyone, there are local online forums and programs Ontario wide of many people in your situation. Make them your “new friends” as they need you right now as well.

After all, who knows where these relationships might lead to. Bottom line, reach out to others who may need you too. Strangers or not.

2. Don't worry about money

Almost 80% of the world is not working right now. Industries have literally been wiped out (Travel, Hospitality, etc). So don't feel bad about your situation. We're actually blessed to live in a place where we can still get jobs (We might not like them), like working at Amazon,  or other related jobs, etc.

If you have any sudden bills, you may want to get a payday loan in Toronto to balance things out. Compared to the rest of the world, we're actually quite blessed if you think about it. Most countries around the world don't have financial assistance like we do. Especially with the CERB payments and all.

So don't worry about money, do the best you can and know that nothing lasts forever. So this won't either.

3. Work out in your own home

This is another essential thing to do. If your body feels good, most likely you will as well.

Working out and staying in shape during this time can literally save your life. The last thing you want to do during these times is overeating. Of course enjoy your favourite snacks but don't over do it. As seeing your belly getting bigger because of eating too much can make you feel even more depressed.

As far as working out goes, you don't need to go to gym or have one in your house (Or even your apartment building). You can do basic push ups and even try jogging in place.

These simple two exercises, performed regularly will not only rejuvenate you, but also help you keep in shape.

So although we are all going through some tough times, if we Torontonians (Heck all Canadians) come together during this period and just try to stick it out, we'll beat this thing and come out stronger than ever.

After all, we’re all in this together.
