RapidFAX on Much Music

RewindYouTube user Retrontario frequently uploads fantastic retro-Toronto-centric gems. These clips never fail to bring back a ton of memories for me, so I feature them from time to time.

As Retrontario points out, Fax used to mean "breaking news". This was 1993.

I wonder what became of Monika Deol? I know she left Citytv in Toronto for VTV Vancouver. She was a news anchor for Citytv in Vancouver until 2002 when she seems to have retired to raise her kids.

Aren't we due for an Electric Circus reunion?

Great video from Retrontario as usual, but there's no fracking way in hell that Bell Media would care enough to have a reunion of Electric Circus-they barely care about Much Music as it is (only when the CRTC said 'NO' to more reality TV garbage being shown, did they actually care enough to remember that they were a music video station, and then the ones in charge brought back the original version of The Wedge !) Why should they care enough to bring back Electric Circus ?

What is needed by all of us is a massive letter writing campaign to the CRTC (with snail mail, not email) to make the people at Bell Media restore Much Music/Much More Music back to the way they were as channels; perhaps then we can see a reunion of Electric Circus or a revival of it. Until then, and unless we all do this, Bell Media won't give a damn.

I'm more curious as to where the cowboy hat wearing guy that used to "dance" on Electic Circus every week is now. He could really hold that cheap cowboy hat and bust-a-move!

I remember having to watch that show at a girl's place and she said, "That's where I want to be one day!"

"Oh, as an audience member?"

"No a professional dancer!"

I could barely contain my laughter. Thankfully it was my friend's wanna be girlfriend.

i effin hated elec.circus. vacuous posers, all of them.

i was in university when it was on, and although i hated the show, a guy i knew took it a step further.

he was an angry (yet smart) tough from england who hated all forms of cheesy pop /dance music, and the ilk it attracted. indeed, elec. circus made his blood boil.

a couple of times he called me up to go drinking with him early friday evenings, to "sharpen up for a bit of the ultra violence". then he'd go down to the studio and start shit with the people watching the tapings outside, who, in his mind, were bigger losers since they were WATCHING the losers inside.

i'm glad i never accepted his invitations. yea he had some serious issues. he also had some kind of surgically implanted bolt in his cranium from some unspoken incident.

today? dude's got a yacht in toronto harbour and a great I.T. career.

Have the Boogie and Jr Boogie reunions first, then work on Electric Circus.

I have thought of Monika often over the years......she was my girl crush. I always thought she was a beautiful confident woman during my influential years.
