Sarah Palin Used to Cross the Border for Canadian Health Care

XXXOur Canadian Health Care used to be acceptable to Sarah Palin. I'm guessing she didn't pay for the services she received in this country, either.

Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin - who has gone to great lengths to hype the supposed dangers of a big government takeover of American health care - admitted over the weekend that she used to get her treatment in Canada's single-payer system.

"We used to hustle over the border for health care we received in Canada," Palin said in her first Canadian appearance since stepping down as governor of Alaska. "And I think now, isn't that ironic?"

The irony, one guesses, is that Palin now views Canada's health care system as revolting: with its government-run administration and 'death-panel'-like rationing. Clearly, however, she and her family once found it more alluring than, at the very least, the coverage available in rural Alaska. Up to the age of six, Palin lived in a remote town near the closest Canadian city, Whitehorse.

How does that old Alanis song go again? Well, life has a funny way of sneaking up on you..

If I were the democrats and Obama I would make sure that clip sees prime time exposure all over the major news networks and radio/newspaper ads.
Its time to play hardball and Palin gave them a major league baseball to throw

It's ironic that her parents were able to exercise their freedom of choice between taking an 8-hour ferry to Juneau and a 2-hour train to Whitehorse?

Better is the former Conservative for an Edmonton riding (where I lived, now NDP) who was caught driving impaired WITH cocaine in his possession and got a $500 dollar fine for driving impaired. Apparently his wife was some anti drug chick.

Yay for politicians and their clueless moron supporters.

Does she not think before she speaks> Not knowing this will blow up just proves the lack of fore thought she has. She is still a looker though.

Mike,

Still a hate on for Sarah eh?

How about Danny Williams jetting to the US for his heart surgery. Why no mention of that.

Oh and what's really ironic is that song by Alanis. The examples she gives in the song aren't really ironic.

I guess she's just another dumb Canadian.

Brilliant Argie, only I don't remember Williams mouthing off about how lousy the Canadian system was OR using it as a political platform.

Ya know Argie, you're not a conservative, you're a over paid union blowhard living in the Welfare Ontario. And get to the gym ya fat pig.

Argie, anyone from Canada can come here for their healthcare if they want to go bankrupt.
Wellpoint, one of the largest health insurers just imposed a 39% rate hike on their consumers....on rates that were already in the 1000-2000 range PER month. thats 12-24K per year for health insurance that may or may not cover you when you need it.
The choices being made are either we can afford it and go broke or we can't afford it and don't get health coverage and go broke anyway with a trip to the ER when we need it. No doctor will treat you in this country if you don't have insurance. thats a fact.
Palin didn't exactly berrate the Canadian system either, she seemed quite fond of it.

Brilliant Argie, did Palin pay for her Canadian Health Care with the Canadian Tax that she paid?

You can slam Williams all you want, but he paid for his health care out of his own pocket in the States.
Palin, just stole it.

This was in the 1960s you morons. Her parents took her brother to the nearest hospital.

Williams has been a champion of our healthcare system - and totally against the 2 tier system. I don't blame him I would have gone to the US if my life depended on it. The difference is that I'm for a 2 tiered system.

Irv, Mike and the other clowns need to get hold of the facts. I also think Irv also needs a girlfriend.

It was the 60's. User fees weren't outlawed until 1984. And foreigners still have to pay for medical treatment in Canada.

@Cambo, you talk about stealing, but what do you think taxes are? Money taken by force or the threat of force.

March 10, 2010 @ 9:20 PM

Irvine

So what if it was the 60's Argie. WTF does that have to do with anything? And if it's all about the closet hospital does that mean people in the West living near the USA should choose American hospitals because they're closer?

The real problem Argie isn't the health care system, it's the general health of the nation. Go take a look at your own first pal.
