Where I'm At With Social Media Apps

It's been a spell since I wrote about my desire to find a Twitter alternative. This will be a stream of consciousness mind dump of where I'm at with it all.

I've been trying to use use Threads, now that I can post from my laptop, but it's just not taking. Every day I promote "on this day" episodes of Toronto Mike'd, but that's about it. I'm not sure why it's not taking, but other than those daily promotioinal posts, I don't check in at all.

I'm really trying to use Bluesky more, posting there daily and checking in a few times a day, but there's not much action. Mike Wilner and a few other FOTMs are posting there, but it's really starting to feel like Twitter without all the people. It's peaceful, and nice, but quiet... too quiet.

I like Instagram more than Threads, and do post there daily, but it just seems awfully artificial. Boring!

I've found some interesting discussions on Facebook of all places, and I find myself reading more and more there, particularly when it comes to music and media nostalgia. Of all the Meta apps, this is the best one IMHO.

LinkedIn is the same as it ever was... very corporate, very impersonal. I'm still there, however.

And since I've yet to create a Tik Tok account, this brings us to the app formerly known as Twitter. It's a shadow of its former self, no where near as interesting and engaging and busy as Twitter circa 2013, but somehow it's still the best game in town. Sigh.
