COVID-19 Update: Shut'em Down?

My how things develop quickly when a pandemic comes a knockin'. Earlier this month, I posted my COVID-19 attack plan. In a nutshell, I wasn't going to panic, I was going to listen to experts, exercise caution and wash my hands like I've never washed them before.

Things are escalating. The NBA, NHL, MLB and MLS have suspended play. Gatherings like the Junos and the  Pearl Jam concert have been postponed or cancelled, and many of us are thinking about shutting it all down for a few weeks or so.

As I type, my wife is still going into the office for work, my kids are still in school or daycare, and I'm still operating as usual. Well, almost as usual. I've stopped shaking hands with podcast guests and clients as I consciously put a little more space between us. I wipe down the microphones between recordings, which isn't a new practice, but I'm now also wiping down the studio table. That used to be a weekly duty.

Still no panic from me, but I've definitely altered my behaviour by avoiding crowds and such. It's the sensible thing to do.

As things are changing rapidly, I'll be updating this blog and Toronto Mike'd. We're all in this together.
