One of my favourite podcast photos ever.

There's never a bad time for a little casual arm resting on the shoulder.

Been wanting to comment since listening to this episode in its entirety last night before bed. I'm a big fan of boom Toronto, so much personality over the other boom stations and the boom wannabe's. The man behind the curtain of course, Troy, has a special relationship with his jocks by the sounds of it and that came out from Stacey in this real talk podcast. Stacey is such a sweetheart and is very genuine. She engages with the listener and you can hear it in clips she plays during her shifts. It was sad that the full time gig with Scot Turner didn't work out on The Move but I felt they were onto something and had hoped they could have aligned the branding with the format flip but that didn't work out since the 90's-2000's rhythmic format didn't quite get the chance it needed (the latest hip hop incarnation certainly has a loyal following and might find legs even if the numbers don't reflect as such).

Back to Stacey, growing up in Fergus! What a scenic town and I try to make a trek there annually for my Pizza Delight fix. Shamelss plug here:

Re: the Kris James vs KJ, he uses them interchangeably now and I believe he adopted KJ when he did country on CiSS 92.5? And then 'KJ the DJ' as the first morning guy on Power/Kiss 92? Either way, he is great and I've been a huge fan since his days at CFTR.

Notable mentions from Stacey: Stu, Maie, the Jeffs and Matt are all part of Troy's magic making the boom a force in Toronto. Q107 just doesn't have any swagger left and is still trying to compete with Duran Duran on their playlist lol.

Congrats to Drew from boom getting a shot at the Edmonton Breeze station for the morning show gig. I know they mentioned on air that his mum is not well but hope it works out for him wherever he lands. I think he came from a BC station? Anyways, another great recruit and he seems too good for just doin the swing eh?

Did anyone hear when they were doing some random auditions for boom weekend swings about 2 years or so ago? Maybe around the time there were 2 Vanessa's and Meredith had been cast at CHUMFM. I seem to recall Buzz Reynolds from the ol Mix 99.9 days and possibly Samantha Houston formerly of the Bob Magee morning show on 1050 chum? Wonder what happened to them.

Anyways, great episode and it would be awesome if you could get Troy in your basement to pick his brain or maybe Stu to kick out some jams. Just a fan's wishlist hehe.

Thanks Mike!

As a frequent listener to Boom 97.3 one thing I can say in that station's defense is that at least the
on-air talent really seem to enjoy not only their work but the music they play. Really quite refreshing
in itself as it's been a hell of a long time since anyone could say that 'bout IQ of 7's tired old
jocks/playlists. To me, the most interesting thing about all episodes involving radio people has to be the Inside Transistor(!) Real Talk/Deep Dives regarding all the behind-the-scenes drama/machinations,
in this ever-changing-industry. Looking very forward to Stacey's eventual KOTJ return, especially
after her revelation that she also enjoys the heavier side of things, musically speaking, that is.
