@Mike
Love the Lee Aaron shout-outs/sing-outs right off the top!! However, her best tunes were on those pre-'89 sellout attempt platters (first three albums, including Maestro's amazing mini"Metal Queen" rendition!). FYI: Some tasty photos of a very young but totally legally nude Lee Aaron (from Oui
Magazine) exist on the Interwebs. In fact, my one-legged chum recently paid $50 for a very-hard-to-find copy of said publication (March 1983, for those interested).

You cut away from that awesome Billy Squier jam much too soon! That dude doesn't get nearly enough love or respect, but he sure has made big bank from all those 'officially'-cleared samples!! P.S., kudos for drawing a comparison/through line between the issuing of ballads as follow-up singles from both those hair farmers of yore and old school rappers like Maestro (and of course LL Cool J).

Just checked this one out this morning - got a little behind over the holidays. A great throwback to high school days. Hearing Maestro always reminds me of seeing him open for Young MC in Vancouver. On the day of the concert, although Maestro was opening, his song was higher than Young MC's on the countdowns on LG73 (a great Vancouver Top 40 AM radio station)

Here's a fun drinking game: Take a drink every time Maestro says "that's my boy" or "that's my girl" and you'll be plastered in no time.
