This guy was one funny SOB. The cast for Stripes was one of the best ever assembled.

A silver lining - I just heard a press release from Dan Akroyd - The script for Ghostbusters 3 is finished. Obviously Harold will no longer be able to reprise his role. But apparently the movie will go forward. And since the basic premise was of OUR Ghostbusters handing the mantle over to a new generation, they can write Egon out (imply he died before the events of the movie and give him a proper send off).

I'd imagine they'll dedicate the film to his memory.

Toronto Mike Verified as the defacto Toronto Mike

I'm an 80s kid. Harold Ramis was responsible for many of my laughs.

New GB3 plot. Egon does, and returns a ghost (CG Harod Ramis, with blessings of estate). They bust him and put him in the containment. But since it's the ghost of Egon, who built the damn thing-- he takes over from the inside and ghostshit gets real.

{sigh} One can dream.

say something

One of the movie sites is reporting that Ramis although being sick for the last few years had actually been Recording mo cap and movement data and scans just in case he passed and they needed to use CGI to finish scenes. Obviously They would need to use the info to record all scenes but Akroyd has all the info and intend to have a CGI egon in the film
