Birham Woldu

NewspaperI've been getting a number of visitors lately from those how have search birham woldu via Google. It seems I rank a healthy 8th for some reason. I'm not complaining, I'm just surprised.

Birham Woldu is an Ethiopian woman who as a malnourished toddler appeared in some of the most wrenching footage of the 1984-85 famine. I saw her during the Live 8 coverage as she was introduced to the crowd in London prior to Madonna's performance and it really brought home what it was all about. She was given ten minutes to live and today she's a beautiful, educated young woman.

Birham Woldu is a true symbol of hope.
