Canada for Asia

Our Beloved Canadian FlagCanada for Asia is a three-hour live concert in aid of tsunami victims taking place tonight in Toronto. You'll find it on CBC and various other networks at 19:00 EST but you can also find it on the radio on streamed over the net at CBC.ca.

It's a pretty cool line-up of Canucks giving their time for a good cause. Marquee talent scheduled to appear include The Tragically Hip, Blue Rodeo, Kids In The Hall, Rush, Mike Myers, Bruce Cockburn, Anne Murray, Bryan Adams, Oscar Peterson, Tom Cochrane, Wayne Gretzky, Sloan, Keshia Chante, Daniel Lanois, Barenaked Ladies, Sam Roberts, , Don Cherry, WWE Superstars Edge, Chris Benoit, Chris Jericho and Christian, The Trailer Park Boys, The Designer Guys, Dave Thomas, Megan Follows, Cynthia Dale, Doc Walker, Shaye, Lunch at Allen's (Murray McLauchlan/Ian Thomas/Cindy Church/Marc Jordan), Erik McCormack, David Usher, Molly Johnson, John Roberts, Eagle and Hawk, Andrea Martin, The Trews, MIR, Kevin Parent, Dr. David Suzuki, Celine Dion, John McDermott and Alex Trebek.

There are a lot of acts I really like in that list and a few I really dislike. Below are my five favourite musical artists appearing tonight.

  1. The Tragically Hip
  2. Sloan
  3. Sam Roberts
  4. Blue Rodeo
  5. Rush

Proceeds collected through the Canada for Asia benefit broadcast will go to the unprecedented partnership of World Vision, The Canadian Red Cross, UNICEF, Oxfam Canada, Care Canada, Save the Children Canada, Development and Peace and Oxfam Quebec. Watch and give.
