Lincoln MKX = Biggest Car I've Ever Driven

carI've always preferred smaller cars. In fact, when it comes time to replace my '99 Protege, I'll likely look at the subcompact class. I'll probably end up with a Fiesta or something...

I probably won't end up with a Lincoln MKX, but that's what Ford has me driving this week. I've been driving it since Tuesday and I can honestly tell you this is the largest car I've ever driven.

It's big, but damn is it smooth. At the risk of getting this entry flagged as XXX, it's very big and smooth, thanks to its new 3.7L Ti-VCT V6 engine. No, I don't know what that means exactly, but it's awfully fun to drive.

Doesn't qualify as a car but my sons 98 Dodge 4x4 Ram 2500 Diesel Pick up. My dad had a 62 0r 63 cadillac, last with the fins drove it when I was 16, what a land yacht it was.

Mike you will feel disappointed oce you give this up, I've had a Tauras rental recently, same platform I believe and getting back to my Prius at home was a huge change.

I learned to drive on my Mom's 1973 Chrysler Newport. It was a two-door. Those doors were long and heavy. In our home, built in 1976, we had to punch small holes in the back wall for the rubber bumper pads so that we could close the garage door. It was 224" (5.7m) long. There were longer cars out there, but that was it for me.

Of the cars that I have owned, my 1994 Eagle Vision TSi, at 202" (5.12m) was the longest.

Thanks to learning to drive on long and wide cars, driving any car, van or SUV on the roads these days is a snap. I regularly shake my head at owners of (for example only) Honda Civics who cannot park them in a parking spot.

LOL Douglas, I hear ya on the people who can't park the civics, saw a lady at Shoppers the other night after 4 attempts drive to outskirts of the lot to park, no matter what she did she kept getting closer to the one car.

My second car was a '94 Oldsmobile boat. And yeah, I much prefer the smaller cars. I drive an Aveo now, and love its little turning circle. :)

My 1st car was my Grandfathers 1960 Pontiac Parasiane with "wings" I got in 1976. It was a BOAT & able to drive many people as it was a taxi on weekends. Too bad I gave it up 2 years later.

How about a 1955 Buick Roadmaster or a 1959 Oldsmobile 98 four-door hardtop?

Then, there's also a Rolls Royce Silver Cloud in the past also. Corner to quickly in that thing and the tires would squeal in protest.

My Dad's 1968 Caddy. You had to yell to the people in the back seat because they were so far away. The trunk could hold an Austin Mini! It had a 500 ci engine.
