I found you a job and a friendship was formed. You told me about your blog and it's been a daily ritual ever since.

Okay Mike- I honestly believe I'm the youngest reader of this blog. I don't like details, but let's just say I'm still a long way from voting :)

When I started my quasi-political blog, I went searching the web for more great blogs- and alas, I found Toronto Mike :)

It's a daily part of my online browsing. Thanks for the dedication Mike- and remember, giving is always better than receiving- especially to poor students.

Mike, found you (like perhaps many did) when trying to find out what happened to HH when he left 99.9.

I first kept coming back for HH info, then found that you posted a lot of great stuff that I'm interested in and can relate to. It appears that we're of similar age, and have similar families (two small kids), and grew up in Toronto. So, a lot of what you post brings back great memories or is really useful, and keeps me up to date as well.

You're on the top of my Favorites list of blogs I visit daily.

I discovered your blog randomly through looking for Toronto blogs. I keep coming back because I findbthe majority of posts interesting and relevant to me.

Found out about your site through FreddieP.ca. Being about the same age and you and with similar intrests, I found the site to touch on topics I could relate to. So I usually drop by each day.

Oh hai Mike,
I met you through Daniel (Bonetree Studios), visited your highly vocal blog and I keep coming back because sometimes you can be entertaining and informative. Sometimes...

I searched for Humble Howard once and your blog popped up.

Although I don't visit every day, I do visit a couple times a week. I very much enjoy reading your blog.

Keep up the good work!

It has been quite some time since I found your blog but, I believe it must have been around the time that Humble and Fred disappeared. I think I landed here through a Google search...And I haven't left as I find the information interesting and, in some instances, informative.

It was at a dinner in 2002 that I discovered Michael had a blog. At the time a small number of people read it each day. As it grew it became an informative and entertaining thing to do each day. Being Michael's mother I was there from the grass roots up.

I was looking up what happened to Humble.

Then our eyes met across a crowed room. I have been obsessed, er, hooked ever since.

I think it was google for something which I don't remember.

The Toronto focus keeps me coming back.

Ottawa (Charlottetown) Mike

I first found the blog when I was looking for Leafs blogs to list on my long since abandoned blog about Ottawa sports. Although things have changed a ton since, this seemed to be one of the few around at the time. I kept reading after seeing that we had a lot of overlapping interests.

I originally found your site through a Google search. I work at Horseshoe, and when searching keywords, came across your blog entry about your recent stay, and playing DJ in the hospitality suite. I've been hooked ever since!

I discovered this blog through Freddie P's blog.

Since then I've really enjoyed reading a Toronto-Centric focused blog... (especially your comments on radio).. comments like that keep me coming back every day!

June 15, 2009 @ 11:46 AM

it was because of your posts on radio. i think i found it when trying to find news on the death of tom rivers. i read your post and continued to come back because you posted stuff about two of my favorite things - radio and music.

I found this because Freddie referenced it quite a bit. I return because I can relate to the topics. Excellent blog

It was a convoluted journey here.

One of my daily rituals is to try and listen to Mike Stafford on AM 640.

One show in the spring of 2008 Mike mentioned Freddie's blog.

After a few week of reading Freddie's blog he mentioned Toronto Mike in one of his posts. I had never really followed any blog until this point.

I hit the link and have been a regular visitor since.

What keeps me coming back is the down to earth observations of the everyday things that happen to you.

As the father of 2 daughters 15 & 10 some of the stories involving you kids remind me when mine were younger.
I also have an interest in the media and your comments on it. From radio upheavals to
your VIP access to upcoming Disney films your take on them are refreshing.

Last but not least Toronto is my adoptive home town which I love. T.O.has quite the devotion to the Leafs. I'm always intrigued by the rabid hate of the Montreal Canadiens the team from the city I grew up in.

Now checking out a my favorite blogs is part of my daily ritual. Just like trying to listen to Stafford

Keep up the blogging Michel

Mike: Destiny and love. that's what its all about......

Destiny brought me to your site - at least I think that's what it was. I was going to Freddiep's site for a while and stumbled across yours accidentally.

What brings me back? Its the need to educate your faithful liberal regulars. I like going against the grain and showing you people the way. The right way that is.

For some reason, this site really speaks to me. It may be because we're brothers or it may be because I'm too lazy to change my homepage. Either way, I'm here to stay.

a) Please omit me from the prize draw contest, thank you.
b) I found your web site 'after ending' my own daily blog. What appeals to me is that it is contentedly 'slice of life' in its content. I had followed a couple of similar blogs five years earlier before starting my own. (IMHO) Too many of all the in-between era blogs tended to be over focused upon a single topic (like politics or self).
Following TM, is also a bit like looking out of a funhouse mirror, except for a jarring Sourness in music preference ;)

I came looking that Monday or Tuesday after Humble did not return to fill us all in on his trip to Disney. Humble Howard, Are You Okay? I continued to come back to read the comments posted to that one entry and then found myself coming back and enjoying the latest entry and the rest (as they say almost three years later), is history.

I also stumbled upon this blog while googling, for what was some hockey related matter I'm sure. I looked back through the archives but nothing jogged my memory as an "oh there's when I arrived" point, so I'm not sure what it was exactly.

I'm not fond of blogs (this is currently the only one I read) but it's nice to get a personal opinion on hockey as opposed to just facts.

As I am currently a resident on the other side of the country, you're essentially my window back to all that is Toronto. I come for this service.. and I stay for the leg room.

I discovered this blog when I went searching for info on Martin Streak's dismissal from the Edge. From there I saw your other posts about CFNY and Humble & Fred which inevitably sent me down memory lane. Now I check at least once a week to see what else you've written.

As a net surfer I stumbled across your site while looking searching for Humble and Fred random information. I enjoyed your views as they were/are similar to mine and like some others who have replied we are of the same age group and grew up in Toronto well Scarborough. Anyhow keep it up, my wife is a a fan as well and is also "hooked" on Toronto Mommy.

I stumbled across your Blog in 2003 as I was becoming familiar with other Toronto Blogs. I related a lot to what you wrote about.....a love of Canada, music, film and family. I also liked how you would write about the most basic things that we all can relate to like....haircuts and radio. It has been fun watching your blog evolve and your fan base grow. Checking in with Torontomike has become a part of my daily routine.

I've thread through your site via FreddieP's. I've been on the trail of an extremist who goes by the moniker of Argie. I’ve been after him since the crucifixion, when he was known as Argilius.
I continue to visit your site because of your taste in music and being an old Brampton boy, your site gives me that touch of home that I miss from time to time. And, how can I hate the Leafs when guys like you are die-hard fans?
Thanks for the offer to join in on this contest, however I cannot enter it - I’m on the coast, so moss doesn’t need a grass trimmer, and if I did have grass that grew that high – I’d sickle it then smoke it.

I found your blog when you posted about Swansea Hockey. From there I went on to find a bunch of local stories and your telling of family stories.

I like the way you put yourself out there and give us something to think about or sometimes just smile about. I return often (almost daily) to read the new posts (including the comments) and enjoy the exchanges of your regulars.

My time flipping through your blog is truly some of the very few internet minutes I use outside of work.

Your blog was mentioned by Fred at Canadian Thinker - and I keep tabs on your blog because, while I don't live in Toronto anymore, I like to keep tabs on what's going on back there.

Plus, your sense of humour kicks ass.

June 16, 2009 @ 4:19 AM

There is a lot of ass-kissing going on here. Unbelievable.

June 16, 2009 @ 6:49 AM

Don't worry Sammi, you're still my favourite.

And the draw is random, so the ass-kissing isn't to win the grass trimmer.

Keep the entries coming! The odds of winning this thing are still pretty awesome. Entries are accepted until Friday, June 19 at midnight.

Like many others I found Toronto Mike while looking for HH. I like the glimpses into Mikes life and generally find you have great taste in music and have a similar sense of humour. I also like the optimism . You seem like a happy guy.

I read the blog everyday and in fact have you on my Google home page as a link.

June 16, 2009 @ 8:33 AM

I think, I stumble on here a few years ago doing the Google for something Toronto. I saved it under Links in my Favorites. Then a year or so later did the HH search and found you and Fred. Didn't start commenting right away. You seem to have the same political views and compassion for your fellow man as I. A down to earth family man. That keeps me coming back. (really though, I like your mp3's) ;O]

Certainly a re occurring theme Going on here. I heard Jeff Merick who use to be on 640 / Mojo talk about Fred's blog. I always wondered what happened to Fred so I started to read it and Fred referenced Mike's Blog. I always find it interesting especially the retro Toronto stuff.

I actually came across Toronto Mike because of Humble and Fred. Shortly after Howard was let go from the Mix I stumbled across this link
http://www.torontomike.com/2006/07/humble_howard_are_you_okay.html
It was well written and I couldn't believe the response to Howard being let go. I decided I would keep visiting to see if Mike had more updates and I soon discovered he had one of the most extensive collection of Homer quotes which hooked me right away. Hes a Hip fan so reading his posts about the Hip are fun as well. Mike posts on a variety of topics and has become not just one of my favorite blogs to read but also an inspiration as I started my own blog with Mike's help about 21 monthss ago. Being from Buffalo I have always been in tune with the Toronto scene and Mike's Blog has given me another way to stay in tune to my favorite city outside of Buffalo in the world.

Although I am a fan of HH and Fred, I did not come across your blog through any search for them. Rather, I stumbled upon your site when looking for music to add to my library. While searching I came across your list of CFNY's top 1002 of all time (from 1999). Then looked further and saw that you submit to SLS, and post other great music ideas. Your great knowledge of music (and willingness to share your knowledge) is what keeps you on my RSS feed. I am a few years older than you, loved the '80's but also really enjoy modern music. You help me stay current. Thanks!

I found Toronto Mike Googling for advice after injuring myself playing hockey--he was getting back into hockey himself and had posted about his own shoulder injuries and I guess my search matched his current blog--I was dealing with a broken orbital bone and fractured vertebrae from a dirty hockey hit.

Anyway, I E-mailed him for advice and he was nice enough to reply (btw, signed up again for this season--THX).

I keep coming back because (aside from appreciating the reply) I have a lot of common interests (Leafs, Marlies, Jays, and Internet related information I can learn from).

I usually read the blog on weekends when I have more time to catch up.

I believe I found TM after Googling "I choo-choo choose you."

Being from Newmarket originally, I found the content relevant to me, and well, I bleed blue & white too.
