Joe Carter Ruined My Childhood

bluejaysDid you see that sign the Phillies fan held at the Jays game last night? It read "Joe Carter Ruined My Childhood". I caught it last night during the game highlights but I've yet to find a picture of it online. If you find it, let me know.

It's funny, but I empathize with this young Philadelphia Phillies fan who was crushed by Joe Carter's three run World Series clinching homer in '93. In a very different way, Joe Carter Ruined my childhood, too. I wrote all about it back in 2003, when we were but a decade removed from that home run.

As crushed as that Phillies fan was, I was just as high after Joe touched 'em all. It's a high I fear we'll never feel again. It simply doesn't get much higher, and that is almost as much a curse as a blessing.

Joe Carter ruined my childhood, and I couldn't be happier about it.

It would have been funnier if you had empathized with him!
