I'm pretty sure it's M. Lucic and not Kucic on Steve's team... and btw if bos faces van or Ott faces LA there is going to be a record set for points scored....

Good luck to all.

I guess you're referencing my picks of LOS and OTT? I think it's going to be PIT and LOS/CHI in the finals, but by the 5th round, all of those good players have already been selected.

When we're picking players in round 5+, you'll notice they're all quite crappy unless we see an enormous upsets. So I don't need the Sens to go to the finals, I just need them to win a round against a very shaky Montreal team that is giving up a ton of goals. It's unlikely they will win against PIT, but you never know if they are injured. There's only upside.

PS. Hossa is no longer on OTT Mike. :)

Argh. I'm no longer pleased with my picks. Who the heck is Brad Richardson? Ah well. Go Bonino!

Good luck!

Bonino is the next Chris Kontos.

Steve's Bolland and Patino's Pominville will miss their respective game 1s.

April 30, 2013 / 17:04

Patino

No one told me Pominville is missing game one... I say we redraft tomorrow?

We have 21 minutes to re-draft.

We'll have a 10 second time limit.

Let's go!

@TOMike,

Your sub totals under the names aren't all correct. Mike has 9 points but the sub total shows 5.

I'm perfectly fine with the Sens beating the Habs in the first round. It's the lesser of two evils.

But you must be swept in round two.

Mike in first? What is this, bizzaro-pool?

Pete takes the lead.

And never relinquishes it, mmwaahaha... The $240 is as good as mine. Mike, just wire it to my Swiss account tonight. I'll pick it up the next time I'm jetting through... ;-)

Is it just me or does my bro Mike have a chance this year?

Strange a doings.

Mike vs. son. Part 1 of many battles to come. LOL

May 14, 2013 / 09:32

Ryan

Mike, you still have Backstrom active for Pete and pretty sure Wash is out.

This has been one messed up playoff pool imho. The following are in big trouble after 1 round: Pete, Patino, Dom, Mikey, me (Ryan) and Steve. That leaves 7 teams.

Jason - Needs Ottawa to perform but has all 10 guys going on and is a contender with his other players. If Ottawa beats Pitt, it's over. If not, it'll be tough.

Mofo - 9 guys so good banking on the correct teams, and good to have Sidney, but other players better get cracking. Interesting fact, Mofo could have all 9 guys in 3rd round. Rare but if Pitt, Chicago and LA all win it will happen.

Pops - 6 guys left but not out. It's all Bruins for Pops, And I was pretty sure mid 3rd period that Pops was deadsville. I wish I was correct. We know how that story went... If Bos goes to finals he has a small chance.

James - taking 8 players to second round, not too shabby. Picked a pretty good team. I am routing for him but am worried that the LA/SJ will deplete his squad and his two blackhawks may not get that many points. Still, can't count him out!!! Good stuff James.

Muzzin - pretty simple, if Detroit goes to cup finals he has a shot. How can you not with 7 red wings on your team... But tough against Blackhawks. Time will tell.

Monica, I was close to counting you out with the rest of us but you have an outside chance. 7 players moving on and although 5 of those 7 players got you a total of 6 pts in round 1, you still are not completely ruled out. Although losing King Bonino hurts bad! I am getting his jersey next year.

Mike, Has a shot. Top 6 picks still out there and has ability to have all 6 guys go to round 3. Could this be his year??

Is it just me or is Pittsburgh going to smile their way to the finals? I think Chicago has more work to do to get there.

That's my two cents. Good luck.

Pete

Ah,

When do we draft for the second round? I'm out of players.

A good friend of mine in Boston sent me an email this morning, it was subject only, no body, simply: "Ouch!". Total class.

Ryan, do you have a job, or do you just stay yup late at night and figure this stuff out? Well done. I can't see any holes in your prognosis.

Ryan

Pete, I eat, breathe and live sports. I am a junkie. And with all of that I still picked a crap squad. Wash up 3-2 and lost 2 in a row. Blues up 2-0 and lose 4 in a row. a week ago I thought I was rocking.

I do have a job, but this one is much more fun!! :)

May 14, 2013 / 11:06

JasonS

I wouldn't write the Sens off so easily, they have similar speed to the NYI, better and more physical defense, and 100% better goaltending. Also, the Pens look beat up. If Ottawa has the will and energy, they can win.

Btw, heart breaking loss for the city last night, that really sucked. Leafs shouldn't have sat back, they should have continued playing the same style that gave them success in the 1st place. Sigh.

May 14, 2013 / 13:35

Mofo

Lamster score still holds for another year.

May 14, 2013 / 17:44

JasonS

Laughing at the Sens just makes you a jerk. Even when the Leafs lost, I still felt bad for the Leafs, the fans, and the city. That's the difference between people in Ottawa and Toronto.

Saying the Sens suck after the kind of hockey they've played this season with their top players injured is just plain stupid btw.

@JasonS

There's another difference... this is Toronto. You're living on enemy grounds.

In Ottawa, do you think they felt bad for the Leafs? Not a chance. It was pure schadenfreude.

May 23, 2013 / 09:20

Pete

@Muzzin,

I bet you $100 ITEX that you don't get more points than I do ;-p

I remember those early days when you led this pool... seems like so long ago now.

(And yes, I realize I dominated for the first two weeks.... 7th out of 13 is actually pretty good for me, sadly.)

May 30, 2013 / 11:10

Pete

Heck,

If I finish in the top 12 I'll be happy ;-)

Had a chance with 1-0 games and a short series. Not now, especially not with Hossa hurt.
