Hang On Blue Jays - Paul Husiak

jaysI wrote all about this song yesterday, so click here for the totally awesome story of "Hang On Blue Jays".

Paul Husiak and a bunch of folks at CHFI put this song together in 1982 or 1983. I remember it well from the early 80s, but completely forgot about it for 25 years or so. This song was literally no where to be found and this copy is a dub of the only physical copy in existance - an old crappy cassette dub Paul Husiak has stored away somewhere.

Here's "Hang On Blue Jays" by the folks at CHFI. The audio of Howard Cosell talking about Blue Jays baseball in the early 80s is solid gold.

That's the beauty, nothing about this is time consuming.

A tweet here, an email received there, a file uploaded to iMeem and a 2-minute entry to share it with the masses.

Total time spent = 5 minutes

A vintage Blue Jay song lost to the world and resurrected for future generations and all of eternity.

A tech note: I'm missing out on the Blue Jay songs this year. Last year I could get copies downloaded-when-played somewhere as a temporary file to save. The Tom & Jerry rap... once found... wouldn't allow access to copy, then it deleted once the browser closed.

Technically, I used to host these streamable Blue Jays songs on Odeo - but Odeo is cheaping out on me, so I'm now using iMeem.

If you really want a Blue Jays song in MP3, let me know and I'll email it to ya.

Mike,
Don't you think that it's now time to bring the next generation of "Blue Jay Song"
out. The past is the past and it was twice glorious, but the present Blue Jays need a set of modern songs to help catch fire and start filling the SkyDome, sorry, ROGERS CENTRE.

This kind of kitschy marketing had its day. I can't see it working in 2009.

Part of the fun of revisiting these cheesy Jays songs is how ridiculously campy it all was in hindsight.

Who's recording the next generation of "Blue Jay Song?"

Mike, I think they are fantastic, cheesy but fun to rehash

What's real cheesy is the B Jays uniforms and logo. Go back to the white and light blue and lets have the bird look a bit less psycho.
