STP RIP

STP RIPOne of my favourite bands has officially called it quits. The Stone Temple Pilots have decided to split and move on.

As a guy who believes music peaked in the early 90s, I was an instant fan of STP. Core had Plush, Sex Type Thing, Wicked Garden and Creep. Purple brought me Vasoline, Interstate Love Song, Big Empty and Unglued. These sounds found a home bouncing around my cranium as a teenager. I saw STP open for the Red Hot Chili Peppers a few years back and they killed. When Scott Weiland is on, there are few better.

Yet another band I grew up loving is finished. Nirvana dissolved when Kurt ate that bullet in '94, Alice in Chains' last hoorah was in '96, Soundgarden disbanded in '97 and now STP has said farewell with the release of their greatest hits package "Thank You". Only Pearl Jam, it seems, is in it for the long haul. For this I am eternally grateful.
