NotesI'm a big fan of this amazing band, so if there's anything newsworthy about Pearl Jam I'll write about it in My Blog and keep all the PJ-relevant entries on one convenient page. Also, check out my complete collection of Ticket Stubs and my my Tragically Hip page. Steve Birnie I missed Friday's show, first PJ show in Toronto I've missed in 17 years. Well, I only went to the May 10/06 show, not the May 9/06 show. I did see Eddie at Massey Hall last year, though. :) sportz suv tent Being grateful for for your blog post. I know that inside today's complicated world, individuals have many beliefs which has made it to be very hard for learners much like me. However, you have made the subject very easy for me to have an understanding of and I now have the awareness of the correct thing. Your own continued reputation as among the top experts about this topic may be increased through words of appreciation from subscribers like me. Thanks, again. Cool stubs... My PJ story.
I was lucky enough to see them open for the Chili Peppers at the Concert Hall in the fall of 91... Ten had just come out and no one had really heard of them except of a few hardcore indie kids already talking anything Seattle up... they won the crowd with great songs and even a better performance... including Eddie's famous "i'll climb the lighting equipment, monitors and balcony" routine... before that I'd only seen Fishbone's Angelo comm1it to that kind of showmanship!
Then he dropped his pants to reveal 'chili pepper' boxers... which got the crowd firmly in his grip.
To bad, no one told that Smashing Pumpkins dude about how to rock a crowd... they were the middle band in this line up and only had "gish" out at the time, so no commercial traction yet... got boo'ed and boo'ed as he wondered allowed why girls were calling "anthony"? Never really listened to that band again... Smashing how?
The the chili's came out and ripped it... their first non-naked show in TO (they had a rep for those sock performances, even though the city granted a permit... obviously they thought it was too contrived, but at least some of the crowd decided to go "clothing optionless"...
Points of the story... Pearl Jam made 2000 new fans that night... including me... Even the indie kids that would later disown the band for becoming too popular were blown away for the rest of that year at least.
Although I haven't seen them live since the 2nd lolapolloza, I always have a special place in my heart for that concert and how we were entertained by a great showman, Vedder, entering his prime...
Rock!
