I am third today. Oh well, that's okay. How about those Habs. Yes, they keep on winning. You know why. It's because they are the best and they'll win again tomorrow as well. They are going to win the cup. Get used to it. My Coyotes lost though. That was no good. How about those Ravens. Great that they won. I think my Ravens are going to win from now on. Poor Cleveland Browns though. They haven't won a game and I do feel sorry for them, but they will win their first game next week. At least they didn't beat my Ravens. Anyway, we have basketball tonight. Cavs will beat the Wizards handily. Suns and Nets will also win.

The video of the girl getting pack bullied in Windsor is beyond disgusting.Equally repulsive is the DB that filmed it, and the scumbags yelling encouragement. I hope the law tracks these evil people involved and deals with them....Jeez.....

Making my way to work through the downtown core this morning, I was disappointed to see how few Canadians were wearing poppies. There's no excuse in my view. If you've been here all your life, you know this is an important part of the cultural fabric of this country. If you're a newcomer, you should appreciate the sacrifices that have been made that made this country so attractive to you in the first place. Canada has opened it's doors with open arms providing you with an alternative to where you've come from, so show a little respect.

Yes they can be a pain because they're always falling off.
Yes there seems to be fewer veterans around offering them on street corners or malls.

But these small inconveniences pale in comparison to what veterans new and old have gone through.

@ Rob J - hilarious.

One word: delusional.

I've already asked 6 people today where their poppy is.

I have no problem shaming people for being so openly inconsiderate and disrespectful of those who served.

Lest we forget.

jean jackets - really?

@ryan G
i learned some poppy trivia this morning on Q. It is considered proper etiquette to wear a poppy only during the period 31 Oct to 11 November at 11am. After 11am you are supposed to place the poppy on a cenotaph or the grave of a soldier.
I did not know this.

My dad is a WW2 Veteran having served in the Battle of the Atlantic with the Merchant Navy. He has been the Service Officer and Poppy Chairman at his Legion for about 30 + years, and he has seen an uptick in the number of people purchasing and donating to the Poppy Fund, of all ethnic backgrounds.
He is also comforted by the involvement of the schools and the kids at the services. We attend at the cenotaph at Kingston Rd and Danforth rd and Cliffside public school has been very involved with students reading, and the choir singing.
Some may think that all of the funds collected go to Veterans care etc., but the funds also go to your local hospitals for equipment purchase, and since this is all done with volunteers, there is nothing lost to Administration costs.
It is truly remarkable.

I did not know this either. Thank you. That is valuable information. My dad served in the English Eighth Army for the duration of WWII.

@Rick C

My wife works in the school system. We were talking just today about how great the schools are at getting the message across, and the kids seem to respond and understand. Maybe I am getting cynical, but this surprised me. We must never forget, and I am relieved the newer generations are still showing a genuine interest.

I wouldn't have cosmetic surgery. Why would I? Surgery is something people have when it it necessary. Cosmetic surgery is not necessary so I wouldn't have it ever. How about thos Cavs 7 and 1 now. That's great. They can be 8 and 1 after tomorrow. No Suns or Nets yesterday, but tonight a game with my Nets at my Suns. Should be a dandy and a very close game, but my Habs also play tonight and my Coyotes play tonight and they both will win. As I said, the Habs are winning the cup. They will not have a regulation lopsided loss again. that was only a fluke.

I also noticed the good job my kids' schools did with Remembrance Day. Both schools sent out notes inviting parents to go to ceremonies at the schools (Grade 3 and 6) and all of the students received poppies. Donations were solicited but every kid received a poppy regardless. My Grade 3 daughter came home and said "they're going to give us poppy stickers so we don't stick ourselves with a pin. But I want one with a pin". So we went out and got her one.

I actually thought it was easier to find poppies this year. As usual, I lost 5 or 6, and it was always really easy to find a box of them at a store cash register. Seemingly fewer veterans selling them for sure, though.

Discussing curling last night and obviously the talk moved to the topic of Vic Rauter. Because of your podcast episode with Vic, I was able to inform the boys that he had gone by 'Gardner West' earlier in his career. (Yes, I attributed TM as the source)

Well, how about those Habs. They shut the Wings down. Isn't that wonderful. See, I told you there will be no more lopsided Habs losses. The Habs are winning the cup. Coyotes didn't do so well though. That was not good. They almost came back, but didn't. They lost a close game. My Suns lost, but they lost to the Nets and I like them both so that's okay for that to happen. Cavs play today. They host the Hornets. Cavs will win. I just know they will. My Ravens played on Thursday, so they don't play today. My Cardinals play the 49ers today though and hopefully a win.

OMG

Leon Russell another music icon passes away. Great voice & musician.
His song "A Song For You" was our 1st dance at our wedding.
Must be one hell of a band & vocalists in heaven from those who passed in 2016.

RIP Leon as you are now a Stranger in a Strange Land.

So much sports yesterday I forgot my Habs were playing. They normally don't play on a Sunday, but they did and they lost. Well, Carey Price wasn't in net so that's probably why, but it was close. Any loss from now on will be close. Anyway, so how about those Cavs. Yes, another win and they are 8 and 1 now, the best. They are going to win tomorrow as well. I just know they will do that. My Suns didn't do so well though. They were leading, but lost it. Fricken Warriors. My Cardinals also won which is a great thing. I got some more wins in my pool, but I'm still losing it.

My Nets got clobbered last night. That's okay. They'll hopefully win the next game. Anyway, Cavs and Habs will win tonight. I am not having a good day though. I have a very painful knee. All of a sudden my right knee on the right side of it is hurting and I don't know why, but walking causes pain, just moving it causes pain. I don't know what it is. I didn't do anything. It hurts like hell though. Anyway, it better go away real soon.

November 15, 2016 @ 9:21 AM

Cheryl

Well, my knee is a lot better. That's good. I did a workout yesterday, but mainly upper body. Now my knee is doing okay so I don't know why I had this really bad knee pain, but it was really bad. How about those Cavaliers. Glad they could win this one. Anyway, that was a great game and they are now 9 and 1. They will win again tonight. My Nets lost another one. Seems like they lose a lot. One day they will come around though. Habs didn't do so well though. At least they got a point because they lost in overtime. It was close. My Habs will win lots more because they are winning the cup.

Unless I am missing an inside joke or a cultural reference, why can't a woman of any age wear a jean jacket if she so chooses?

November 16, 2016 @ 2:40 PM

Cheryl

Well, not a great sports night, that's for sure. My Cavs lost. That was no good. Well, they decided to rest Lebron. He wasn't hurt of anything, but they rested him and JR Smith is still out so my Cavs had to lose and my Suns also lost. In hockey my Coyotes lost. This sucks.
