Join Me and Donate Blood - Blood Alert! Blood Alert!

I got an email from Beth yesterday. Beth works for the Canadian Blood Services and they're in a little trouble. Luckily, I think we can help.
Here's Beth's email...
Hi Mike
Is it possible to mention that we need Torontonians to get out and donate blood in the next week? Nationally, our inventory is quite down and we're heading into a long weekend. In Toronto, only about 2% of eligible people donate unfortunately, so we have to import 50,000 units from other regions each year to support our hospitals.Beth

Here's what I'm thinking... Let's pledge to do this next week. There's a list of clinics right here and many of them don't require an appointment. Or, you can call 1 888 2 DONATE (1 888 236 6283) with any questions or to book an appointment.
If you're willing to do this with me (yes, I'll do it too) please leave a comment letting us know. Over the next six weeks, they need more than 6,000 additional donors to book appointments to meet the needs of hospital patients all across Canada. Let's help chip away at that number.
Who's with me?

Dried-up Blood (Sep 5th, 2006)
_About a week ago, I received a message call regarding an upcoming local blood donation event. While I have given before [ 2004/05 supportive entries ], I stopped participating as of last Spring.
_It has turned into becoming a hassle for me to give blood. The last time, I spent a full 70 minutes before finally "rolling my sleeve up". Yet, there were only about half a dozen persons in front of me and I had a pre-booked appointment time.
_After the initial finger prick test sample, I waited to be confidentially questioned by a nurse or assistant(?). There were five privacy screens set-up. Someone had also tacked up a sheet of paper indicating a different interviewer's name for each - yet throughout this weekday evening event I only saw two such nurses for this portion of the procedure.
_Once I made it to the table bed area, I then had to deal with a changed physical apparatus (from 2005). Before then, I used to freely let my unelevated arm simply lie down next to my body. Now, I must raise my arm above my overall body position and onto an "arm-rest" bar. My actual needle time had definitely slowed down and my same arm's elevated hand will then feel slightly 'sprinklely' as well during this process.
_Plus there is a small loose vinyl pillow insistently placed at my already slope supported head. So whenever I slightly shift, the pillow pushes down into the back of my neck. The last couple of times or so, I had to almost argue NOT to place this pillow jammed behind my discomforted head and neck. I will note here that I do have occasional upper back/neck flare-up troubles.
_I was once regularly attending, and it's a shame, but [as it is] there's no way that I'll ever donate blood again.
Mike: Hey, I used to proudly blog in support of CBS. They still need to address my multiple concerns as reprinted above.
