FAN 590 20/20 Sports Updates Sans Intro Music

radioWe discussed the new Sportsnet branding last week. Part of that new branding involved renaming The FAN 590 "SPORTSNET 590 The FAN".

I've also noticed they've dropped the music from their 20/20 sports updates. It's not like before when they briefly changed the music, there's no music at all.

I get their desire to re-brand all Sportsnet properties, but I miss the 20/20 music.

Yeah, I really miss that music also. It's been the theme music for years and years, I'm not sure why they felt the need to change it. Hopefully Rogers has a change of heart again, just like last time.

I said this before...I think the rebranding is awful. It doesn't flow at all and you cannot even tell when the updates are starting. A horrible, horrible rebranding.

Listening to Bobcat on the way home yesterday, he even mentioned about the music & "I guess Rogers doesn't have to pay royalties to artists anymore". He then waited 5 seconds & said we have changed our format for music intro's if you haven't already heard today. He seemed Pi$$ed just like Brady & Lang this morning.

Haven't listened to much Fan this week, but I can't imagine it not being annoying without the music. The music let me know when I needed to pay full attention again if I wanted to hear an update. It's easier to miss when you're working on something with the radio in the background because you don't have that clue anymore. Bad call.
