I Never Got Jackass, Did You?

notepad Ryan Dunn died today. I had never heard of him, but he apparently starred in "Jackass".

I wished no early death for Ryan Dunn, but I hated his show. I once listed "Jackass" as one of the things everyone liked that I hated. "Jackass" seems so popular, but the allure baffles me. I haven't been able to sit through 30-seconds of the movies or television shows.

I'm with Mike. It's stupid humour- do something someone else wouldn't...then the people will laugh.

Mike: I never understood your 'celebrity death watch' posts. Why bother posting on a person or topic that you either have no interest in or dislike.

Are you in such desperate need to have something to talk about? I'm sure you could find plenty of topics to post on that are relevant to you.

I ask because choosing a time like this to blog a statement like 'Jackass seems so popular, but the allure baffles me' is at best crass and ill-timed.

I enjoyed Jackass, it was never high art, but as long as people discuss and argue over its cultural impact and relevance, it is art.

Even the tags you use 'celebrity death watch' demonstrates the point that as soon as anyone becomes famous there's an element of society that is waiting for them to fall, whether that is by a failed album or movie, a drugs bust, overdose or firey death.

The fact that you post this theme when you have no interest in the person demonstrates that you are a card-carrying member of this fraternity and a dick.

I wasn't waiting for Ryan Dunn to fall, I had never heard his name until he died.

I'm not sure what the big deal is...

Ryan's death made me think about Jackass. Jackass prompted the entry. I can't write about Jackass without acknowledging Ryan's death, it's the 900 lb elephant in the room.

And besides... this is just a fun little hobby. I write an entry or two every day and people are welcome to discuss here in the comments. I don't charge admission and I won't cry if my visitor count hits single digits.
