...and surprisingly none of these people still live there.

Edmonton is a hole - a cold one at that.

Edmonton is a city that is rough around the edges & it's definitely cold. I was working there for a year and the winter I spent there had 8 straight weeks of -30C or colder. It's also tough. They're at 25 murders this year compared to Toronto's 23 and Calgary's 2. E-Town's a harder, rougher city than ALL the 'hoods in Toronto.

But, Edmonton is also an incubator for culture & business. The city is very supportive of it's own. It's also a city with people with a good sense of humour. People don't take themselves too seriously in Edmonton. E-Town is the city of hidden charms. You find the coolest shops & places hidden where you least expect them. Old Strathcona is also one of the most diverse and livable urban areas in Canada.

As for you Argie, I've got a deal for you. I'll pay for you hotel & airfare to Edmonton. I want you to take a trip up there and tell the folks of E town what a dump their city is. We'll start in Mill Woods, them move up to 118th Ave, 97th Street Corridor, East Downtown, and Claireview. We'll see what a bad ass you are in real life. Your pampered Eastern ass wouldn't last a day.

And wear a Leafs jersey.

So, in one paragraph you say that Edmontonians have a good sense of humor and don't take themselves too seriously. Then in the next you imply the possibility of physical violence if someone were to say their city was a dump. What?

Edmonton has a good sense of humour but Argie wouldn't be joking.

There's a difference. Not that I condone violence.

But Argie sure hates a lot of things for a Christian that should be all about love.

At least now Edmonton has company ( Winterpeg ) as an NHL city where no UFA wil set foot.

Thanks Irv for proving my point. E-town (as you call it), has a scary high murder rate and it freaking cold.

Is it any wonder that none of those quasi celebs choose to live thee anymore???

Edmonton has a lot of work to do shake its Deadmonton image. I'll be happy for their successes because they're a Canadian city. Of course, one might expect them to be interested and excited about things happening in the national metropolis, a prominent stage for new urban ideas and cultural developments. In the end, a reciprocal relationship between major Canadian cities that should be maintained, one of honest appraisal, positive reinforcement, and entrepreneurship. The shared experiences of urban living in Canada transcend regionalism.

Too many niggers in Edmonton and Calgary, on top of the fact that both cities are already a dump, in terms of both infrastructure and social culture.
