Telus' Pat Prefontaine is Old Spice Guy Without Charm

Published by Toronto Mike on August 16, 2010 @ 15:44 in Miscellaneous

Thumbs DownTelus is introducing a spokesperson they call Pat Prefontaine. Pat's a lot like the Old Spice guy, Isaiah Mustafa, only not as charming. Telus would absolutely love it if you visited Pat Prefontaine at http://patprefontaine.com/.

Nice try, Telus, but if you're going to rip off the hot marketing idea of the moment you're going to have to be less obvious about it. I don't think anyone is looking for a less charming, more annoying Isaiah Mustafa.

Rip off

I started laughing when I saw this last night. I couldn't believe how insanely stoopid Telus must be. All I kept thinking about was "Who's the ad genius that came up with that one?"

Sad.

This almost too embarassing to watch. Too bad Isaiah Mustafa could not sue for defamation of character.

weak.

how could this possibly have went through the various levels of approvals at both the agency and client?

i mean, it's not like there's been a wildly successful vampire premise on a tv show or movie and then a bunch of other copycat shows start popping up.....oh wait a second..

Very strange given Telus' excellent mass marketing strategies and advertisements.

This is absolute awful.

All the Telus marketing department knows how to do is rip off other people's ideas. The animal ads that we've been subjected to ad nauseum for the past 10 years weren't their original idea either.

Stop whining. keep the animals, everyone complains. Create something new, everybody complains. It's a funnny ad, stop being 'haters.'

this idea sucks. people aren't hating, they're loving the original idea not this hack version.

Isaiah could sue for defamation of character. He wrote all the laws while working on his massive abs. The original document is hanging in his shower on waterproof paper.
