J.P. Arencibia's Major League Debut

Published by Toronto Mike on August 7, 2010 @ 17:23 in Toronto Blue Jays

JaysCalled up from Triple-A Las Vegas on Wednesday, J.P. Arencibia homered on the first pitch of his first at-bat, a two-run shot to left in the second. He added another first-pitch homer in the sixth, and finished with four hits.

Arencibia is the first player in the modern era with four hits and two homers in his major league debut. He's also the first Blue Jays player to homer in his first career at-bat since Junior Felix did the trick on May 4, 1989, against the California Angels.

J.P. Arencibia belongs in the hall of fame.

Finally the kid got a call, how do they sit him tomorrow with a debut like that? Gotta go with Arencibia with Morrow tomorrow, the kid looked sharp defensively too.

My 1 son was at the game & has been to a lot of games the last few years & he said when came home he never saw the "Skydome" rockin' like today & everything was electric. The crowd loves this kid.

I have been waiting a while for this guy. I have had him on my fantasy squad since spring training (keeper league) and almost put him in today (wish i did).

The Jays are a starting pitcher or two and a great closer away from being serious playoff contenders.

I hate baseball. It's so boring. Everything is so slow. It takes forever for the game to end. Bring on hockey and my Habs and Coyotes.

Cheryl, how do you feel about the game of Chess?

I never really got into chess. If you talk about Scrabble or Monopoly, now those games are fun. Honestly baseball can be okay if you have a well pitched quick game, but those are now few and far between. I want hockey.

Cheryl, although i despise your Habs, you're alright!!!

Baseball is a chess match. I imagine that many of us love the game because we can sit back and be strategical.

I also feel that baseball is a majestic sport, with beautiful ball parks all around the U.S. (Sorry Rogers Centre).

GO Leafs GO!!!!!!!

Baseball is a boring game. It's very slow. It's a minute between pitches sometimes. It makes you go to sleep. That's what it does. There are always meetings on the mound and players call time. Bring on some hockey. Habs and Coyotes are the best. I hate the Leafs.

I think that baseball is a very highly thought of game. and in my U.S.A. the pace of the game is ledgendary. if you dont think my opinion of baseball is great, you should try my opinion of the Pittsburgh Penguins. Yeah Baby! Go Pens!
