Farewell 1961, Hello 1967

stanley cupThis Maple Leafs fan is rooting for Chicago. The Blackhawks are now one win away from their first Stanley Cup since 1961. This Leafs fan couldn't be happier.

It's time to say farewell to 1961 and hello to 1967. 1967 is the last time my team won the Stanley Cup, and we'll soon be the proud owners of the longest drought in the NHL. The Barilkosphere is ready.

When we do win, and we will win, I want it to be all that much sweeter. This record and the 1967 cross we bear guarantees maximum satisfaction and optimal relief. Your chants of "1967" don't humiliate us, it fuels our passion.

Unfortuanely the next time the Leafs win Lord Stanley is when you & I are LONG gone in our graves. Maybe James & Michelle will see it.
At least I saw parade in 67.

Passion? Yeah, umm, we can go with that. In reality, the "passion" is absurd brand loyalty.

How many Leafs are actually FROM Toronto, Mike?

What you do is support a shit team no matter what and by supporting the shit team no matter what, you ensure the owners don't have to worry about trivial things like winning. Not as long as you're still buying a ticket. Enjoy your shit team; you Leafs fans get exactly what you ask for.

Building Condos not Championships is what your beloved Leafs are more worried about.

What is this, then?

"The drought is dead. Long live the drought!" ???

That's exactly what it is going to be.

Dale, you're probably right.

Jason, you are absolutely correct. The "why win, let's just make more money" approach at Leaf control has been in place since Harold Ballard got it precisely correct. He noted that all of the tickets are sold, get much more expensive each year (that hasn't changed, has it), the waiting list for season's tickets was (and still is) decades long, and every cent more spent (not invested) on the Leafs simply takes away from the bottom line.

The Leafs do not know what it means to play before empty home seats that are not paid for, and stupid (they cannot be considered as ignorant anymore, because they know their team is shite) fans just keep unhesitatingly supporting and otherwise throwing money at the team.

The Ontario Teachers Pension Plan has it good.

To the Leaf Nation: SUCKERS!

It's a bad situation but you if love hockey, then it's hard to feel any passion for the team of another city. There's just no fun in cheering for another city if you live in a great city.

MLSE knows that there's a lot of money in playoff games and league domination. They'll probably achieve that in our lifetimes.

When we win, the first car I'm flipping belongs to OJ.

To the morons who keep repeating the "its the fans fault the Leafs dont win" nonsense: ITS NOT TRUE. Its a myth created by hack journalists. Head over to the Pension Plan Puppets blog and let us prove it to you. Do a little research and youll be surprised what you find out. Or do you want to remain ignorant so you can repeat lazy cliche BS without thinking about it?

@Anonymous: don't waste your time. Let them blather on with their tired rhetoric, like they just came up with it.

Take pride in your Leaf-bashing, haters. When they finally climb the mountain I'll take great pride in pushing you off the bandwagon.
