Reminder to Leaf Fans Still Cheering for Montreal

Published by Toronto Mike on May 20, 2010 @ 15:47 in Habs Suck, Toronto Maple Leafs

LeafsIt's a gorgeous day in Toronto, and I've got a ball game to play, but I understand there's a hockey game tonight.

This entry serves no purpose except to tell everything a very interesting discussion has emerged in my If You Love the Leafs, You Hate the Habs: It Is Written entry. You might want to click on over and throw your two cents at it.

Also, I did a little interview on this subject with OpenFile. You can read their article here.

I am cheering for my Habs. Yes, my wonderful Habs. They are going to win tonight. I am not a Leaf fan. I never was and never will be. The habs will win this round in six or seven. The Flyers won't win tonight. There's just no way. Get used to it. Halak will be on his game again. The Habs will win big time and if you don't like it, that's just too bad. Go Habs.

I cheer for players not for teams even though the Leafs are fave team. In past Mont. players I hated & then decided to hate team overall.

There are NO players on this current Montreal team I dislike so why not hope Montreal goes further. The coach has made his moves to get this far & as of now 3-0 tonight for the Habs. Why not go for an 8th place team to make it to final round??

@dale

You're doing it wrong.

@dale Public enemy number one is Dominic Moore - he should have retired instead of playing for Montreal. I'm sure he could have been a perfectly good real estate agent somewhere. That's one player you can hate right now.

Mike, Mike, you're taking it all too seriously, come over to the dark side for a while, you can always go back to the Leafs in the fall...

The Habs are fun to watch and this series is kind of odd...considering they almost didn't make it into the play offs...no one could have predicted this Eastern Conference Final and it's fun to watch good hockey...

I personally want a Canadian team in...and sadly it's not our Leafs.

Besides dude, do you think Dion Phaneuf gives Pflying Pf... about us, as he's chilling out at his cottage?

Do you think that any of the players care who we cheer for, as they golf, enjoy the off season and or play in the World Cup?

I doubt they worry about who we cheer for Mike...so ease up...relax and let's go for the one remaining Canadian based team!

David - we care and I don't care for your attitude.

I told you the Habs would win. Leighton has come back to life. See, he's not so good and neither are the Flyers. They're going to be toast. Habs all the way to the cup. Yes, they're going to win the cup so get used to it. Go Habs go.

Is this the same group who believes if you love Labatts, you can't love Molsons? Go Habs!!

Mike, please don't start this crap over here. Your blog is better than that. Let Freddie handle it.

Oh, and Go Habs Go!

I've never considered that there's a Leafs/Habs rivilary. There was once but it's been dead a long (like really long) time. When was the last time the Leafs and Habe played a really meaningful game? I think the last time they played each other in the playoffs was 1979. While it's true that Montreal fans like beating Toronto, most consider Boston to be their true rivial. The Leafs have sucked for too long to matter to most.

When I grew up it was the Norris division. As such I hate Detroit, Chicago, Dallas North Stars and St. Louis.

I'm not going to hate the Habs just cuz they're based in Montreal.

What a sad world we live in. Unbelievable really.

No, this is the same group who, if they're inteligent, doesn't touch Molsons with a 10-foot pole whether they're a Labatts fan or not. Really, who drinks that sludge?

Look, I'll cheer for Toronto once we get a team. Still pulling for Balsillie on that one.

But, until we do get an NHL team in Toronto, I will cheer for who ever I damn well please, and this week (and hopefully next week too) it shall be the Canadiens.

David, Chris in EY & Andy I totally agree with you all. Is there are a hate here for a city or a team. Mike, why am I doin' it wrong as I just want the see some damn decent hockey & the Habs have provided it so far this playoffs since the LAFFS (who I support) aren't there AGAIN.
I'm a hockey fan also & my allegiances right now are with the Habs.

elvis
May 21, 2010 / 19:38

That's like cheering for the Roadrunner and the Coyote. Drinking both Coke and Pepsi.

Cheer for Montreal all you want but when/if the Leafs ever win again, get your ass off our bandwagon. No room for you.

You cannot support the Leafs for a number of reasons, mainly because you haven't watched a game this year to claim you didn't see any decent hockey and a Leaf supporter doesn't switch allegiances.

I bet you also like KFC and Mary Brown's.

Elvis - you left the building a long time ago. Get a violin.
I've watched many games this year & was at ACC for 2 which I left after 2 periods losing by a lot. I saw cup RUN on Yonge St. in 1967. Probably the last in my lifetime.

KFC & Mary Brown's - NO.
I like RONNIE's & the KING.

Habs are going to win to even the series. Just wait. The Flyers are out of gas. Go Habs go. On the way to the Stanley Cup.

Cheryl
May 22, 2010 / 19:17

Well, the Habs got shut out. This sucks. This was another fluke game. It won't happen again. Habs in seven. They will win the next two to get to game seven and win game seven. Honestly, the Habs won't go away. They're going to win the cup like it or not. The cup is theirs.

James

@Cheryl: Still waiting on terms for that bet.

elvis
May 22, 2010 / 20:40

@dale - I love that you can't argue with me so you just say Elvis left the building. Elvis has more fans and makes more money dead than the Toronto and Montreal organisations put together.

See you on the golf course Dale. Can't wait to see what bandwagon you jump on next. Always cheer for the winner, right!

Cheryl
May 23, 2010 / 09:58

Habs in seven. Like it or not and I am not doing your crazy bet. No thanks. I just know that the Habs won't win the cup. See, afterr Washington was winning three to one, the Habs come back. After Pittsburgh was winning, the Habs come back. The Flyers will be toast. They got lucky so they won yesterday. It won't happen again because Halak will shut the Flyers down. Trust me. The Habs are going to win the cup, like it or not.

dale
May 23, 2010 / 19:14

@elvis - always cheer for the winner? Habs were in 8th place & made it to conference final & down 3-1 in this series. I'm not a bandwagon jumper JUST want to see great hockey & Habs did it 1st 2 rounds & that's why I want them to move on.

elvis
May 23, 2010 / 21:31

Sorry Dale, I was under the impression I was corresponding with someone who understood hockey. No one, not even true Habs fans, can call the hockey played by any of the teams in the Eastern Conference this playoffs "great." Great goaltending in rounds one and two, perhaps (but even Halak was pulled) but great hockey?

My apologies. I hope you find the great hockey you've been looking for.

Cheryl
May 24, 2010 / 17:51

Habs are going to win tonight. Just wait. Habs all the way to the cup. They will win the cup. Now the Flyers fans can cry because they are going to lose.
