Dave Chappelle! Where the Hell Are You?

Exactly five years ago today, I wrote about Dave Chappelle.

The Associated Press is reporting at this hour that Dave Chappelle has checked himself into a mental health facility in South Africa. "It seems like the issues he's contending with are really quite serious," said Dade Hayes, a senior editor at Entertainment Weekly. "It isn't a case of him spending a weekend someplace recuperating from exhaustion."

This isn't a rehab centre to beat an addiction to drugs, this is exactly what I suspected. The imbalance that plagues Chappelle is precisely the trait that aided in producing one of the funniest human beings on the planet. The greatest comedians are always afflicted with such psychoses. I'm certain there's a correlation.

For Chappelle's benefit, lets hope this edge can be dulled to a healthy point. It's a fine line between genius and madness and I fear Chappelle just tumbled over it.

That was five years ago. I considered Dave Chappelle to be one of the funniest guys on the planet. Since then, he put out Block Party, but that's about it. Unless I missed it.

Where the hell is Dave Chappelle? I miss him.
